Welcome back - thats a great custom to start off your return to the challenges. Your use of softgoods is excellent - I try to use them as often as possible, they just add a little something to a figure - in this case they add a lot.

Considering right after I posted about Baniss Keeg, and the fact someone posted their custom of it right after, I think I'll try Lirin Car'n, I have an extra band member and can use the same materials I already had gathered for Baniss. Can someone message me with a few more pictures of Lirin Car'n? I don't know what he looks like fully.

I did a google search on Lirin Car'n - not a whole lot came up for reference material.

I guess that great minds think alike. I started my Baniss Keeg over two weeks ago, at the time I wasn't aware of the new Yakfinities challenge. Full body shots of many cantina aliens are hard to find. The pics of Lirin Car'n that I could find are from the waist up.

I'll just take off from customs a little. I may also make the unidentified Gotal seen in the Holiday special. Depends, though.

As promised, here is entry # 2 for the cantina challenge. Whenever I think of the cantina this guy is the first character who comes to my mind, NOT the band, NOT Greedo, NOT Walrus Man but..............Wuher the bartender. I know what you're thinking, "Why is he the first character you think of Hyperdrive"? It's simple, because he looks like my Uncle Doug! LOL. Anyway........

Wuher the bartender has
- hand sewn pants made from extra living room curtain material which was hand dyed in brown and grey,
- hand sewn tunic made from scrap fabric from my wife's sewing room
-vinyl belt
-vinyl buckle
-bar towel made from hockey tape
-leggings and wrist wraps wrapped with white hockey tape dyed brown
-head retooled potf2 Wuher head fitted for ball hinge neck peg
-upper torso recent rancor keeper from 2 years ago
-arms sanded down rancor keeper but fitted with wrist wraps after sanding down leather wrist armor
-legs (under fabric pants) potf2 Wuher
- all articulation has been kept, with ball jointed neck added

Oh wow - your custom Wuher is over the top amazing... you truly captured the look of the character better than Hasbro did. This looks more like a Sideshow product than what Hasbro made... the soft goods work so naturally on his rotund body, lol. But it really does look great... but I have to mention that amazing paint application you gave the face too.

All the elements bring this custom to life - one of the coolest Yakfinities entries of all time!

Another great figure, its hard to sew clothes on such a small scale, so you've got some serious skill. I wish Hasbro would update Wuher and make him look like this. By the way - I love how you added a towel on his belt!

Wow thanks everyone. I will try to explain how I dye the fabrics but the best advice that I can give anyone is to observe a two year old child. If they can ruin the carpet with a liquid, then it will work on figures.....lol. I use black coffee, which works incredibly well for cantina and Jedi robes. cranberry juice, and watered down Polly scale a typical paints. For Wuher I began by dipping the white unstained fabric into hot water. This makes the fabric very pliable. I thoroughly squeeze out the hot water and put it into a watered down light beige dye (water and beige Polly scale acrylic paint). Looks like milky water. Squeeze out the excess dye and let it dry maybe 2 hours. Then dye color with a small brush in the areas you want to stain. You want the dye to be watery. That's what gives it that gradual fading effect. Repeat the process until you achieve the desired look. It's really really simple once you get the hang of i

t.

OK..... This cantina yakfinities has been so much fun that I have been inspired to create two more cantina entries but I am not sure how long I have to finish up my work. When does this Yakfinities #43 challenge expire? I'm waiting for some base figures to be shipped that I purchased on Ebay to arrive so that I can get started but they likely wont arrive for another week. Is there a solid end date? Gonna put a few Jedi Knight projects on hold to get the last entries completed.....BY THE WAY........

This Aqualish/Walrus man is an awesome entry CHEWIE. Great use of a Dooku! Paintwork is excellent as always. I love the stark, drab design. It is completely in keeping with the OT cantina, grungy, drab, mysterious, basic. The flipper hands look awesome. Still havent found this figure at retail.

This is also another awesome figure! You guys have made some awesome looking aliens. This guy could fit in anywhere, Senate, Coruscant nite club, Cantina, JAbbas Palace, Seperatist.....very versatile design. Quermians are very cool creatures, underused in customs too. Great to see one populating the Cantina

Ok this Yakfinities has definitely inspired me to get off my lazy butt and work on some customs that I've had on the back burner for years! Some of these are not the most difficult customs, but these are "filler" characters that are in the background scene of the Cantina.

Ok, I'll admit that this custom isn't actually eligible for the Yakfinities because I actually made this custom a year or so ago; but I've never showcased it on a thread - although he has appeared in a scene in one of the chapters of my photonovels.
Head/hands - Cantina band
Arms - ROTS Obi-Wan Kenobi
Body - TVC "Brainiac"

Again, this custom doesn't qualify for the Yakfinities because it's about a year old also, but again never showcased on a thread. Of course it's just a simple head and had swap, but it seems like a no-brainer to me. There are actually THREE different Rodians in the Cantina so to change how they look, I swapped out the head, hands and vest.
Head/hands - Rodian pod racer mechanic
Body - VOTC Greedo
Vest - commtech Greedo
