We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to help better serve diehard Star Wars fans like never before! Hasbro invites you to help launch a new weekly STAR WARS QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION with their Star Wars brand team.

In an effort to provide more consistent support to those dedicated to covering the iconic Star Wars toy line, Hasbro has established a weekly Q&A aimed at sharing the most up-to-date and accurate brand and product information available.

Submit questions that you would like posed to the Star Wars brand team. All questions submitted will be reviewed and answers to a select few will be posted on Hasbro.com the following Friday afternoon. Though only a sampling of all questions received will be posted to Hasbro’s site each week, we will make our best effort to respond directly to each editor with answers to all submitted questions.

Also, while Hasbro welcomes any and all questions regarding past and present product lines, they reserve the right to refrain from answering any questions that may otherwise divulge proprietary information related to future products.

YAKFACE'S RULES ON SUBMITTING QUESTIONS AND OTHER THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

First of all I do some occasional housecleaning of the question submission thread and remove all the old questions that have been sent and/or answered by Hasbro.

Just wanted you to know in case you come in and wonder "HEY, where the hell did all the questions go?" I will do this periodically because it just makes it easier for me to keep track of everything.

Next, I've received some questions about what does or doesn't get sent to Hasbro. I will tell you that the decision about what questions to send ulitimately rests with me. Not every question that gets posted will get sent to Hasbro and not every question that gets sent to Hasbro will get answered. If I don't send your question in, please don't take it personally and please don't let that stop you from submitting questions in the future, chances are one of them will get through eventually.

Sometimes I have to make a call about what and what not to send. Especially if the question is accusatory, hostile, combative or just flat-out rude in tone. I know some of you are eager to ask the "hard questions", so if you do, try to state it as politely as possible. A question like "Why does it seem like you only cater to scalpers when you pack Scorch at only 1 per case? I guess you don't want our money." obviously WON'T get sent. Too many questions like that and we could get blackballed from the Q&A altogether.

Plus as I surf the net and see new announcements being made, I'm going to assume you've read it too (I.E. Comic-Con, Toy Fair) and if a question pops up in the forum that's been answered at one of those events, I'll simply point you to that news whereever it may be, which will leave room for more questions.

And yes, Yak staff will occasionally toss in a question of our own from time to time as they come up. But first dibs, as always will go to our readers.

Just thought you might appreciate the mindset that goes into the Q & A on our end. As always, if you have any questions, complaints or comments, don't hesitate to bring them to me in an email and I'll do my best to help you out.

Finally, we ask that you keep this as one thread and that you please DO NOT create new threads here. We'll just end up deleting them anyway. Thanks a lot for your cooperation and have fun!

Dear Hasbro

While looking through a website that had details on Kenners Unproduced Star Wars Toys, i came across the Hoth Tank. Would it be feasable to make some "EUish" medium sized ground vehicles for our Clones to man to fend off all those Droid/vehicles?

http://theswca.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=48885

Dear Hasbro

Why do you feel the need to provide a pack-in when most action figures on the shelves of the shops do without. If you really feel the need to pack in something, would it not be worth while to put an accessory or set peice in that both child and collector could use, rather than an item nine times out of ten gets chucked away?

Chewie Ya beat me to it with a "order 66 question

Dear Hasbro

After the Let down reveal of the Order 66 Packs, do you not think its unfair to market these rehashes and repaints as an "Exclusive"?. Yes sure the colour scheme on a differant clone sculpt is kinda cool and a few fans will pick them up for that and from the article your hoping the packaging sells it for us and you insist these will be a great seller, but looking at forums fans are mostly disappointed. You seem to go in the right direction like the Vintage and then a u-turn with stuff like this and hope will get it because of fancy packaging and a clone, its the figures that neede the work we don't buy for the packaging.

Dear Hasbro,

With the releases of Bossk and IG-88 imminent as OTC style figures, and the leaked information about a possible 4-LOM, are there any chances we'll see a rework of Zuckuss? How about Dengar?

Dear Hasbro... with the recent leakage of images of the newest IG-88 Vintage Figure, will/have you addressed possibility of the warping of it legs due to prolonged display.

(i.e. will they warp and distort like the battle droids and Vader Medical "Chopper" Droid legs)

Now that we've seen photos of the new Jedi Luke figure, what can you tell us about him? Is it an all new sculpt? Is his Death Star 2 costume on underneath the vest, and what accessories will he have? What are the chances of seeing him repacked without the vest?

It is a valid question but we do need to cut the swearing in the forum.

Here's a question for you Hasbro -

The Naboo Flight Crew figure is a major pegwarmer. Right now, this figure seems to be of the old POTF2 sculpting but with more articulation... it doesn't seem to match up well with today's standards.

What could you have done to make this figure better? Would it have been a good idea to instead of offering so much articulation, to instead concentrate on a better sculpt for him and maybe include some sort of good accessory like some sort of fueling tank for a Naboo fighter?

Or perhaps you could have tried some sort of removable armor with this guy and interchageable heads would have made it better -

Image

It just seems that if an EPI figure is really done well, it would sell better; but if not made to rival the other quality of the line, it might create even more of a biased against EPI characters being made.

Dear Hasbro

You have answered in a few Q&A's that the SW department have no connection or input to what goes on in other departments i.e. Gi Joe and in one of my own questions asking about "build a figure" type pack-ins for Star Wars, so if this is the case how is it that Gi-Joe, Marvel and Tranformers have Attakix, Galactic heroes and titanium figures. So if ideas from Hasbro are being transported to other lines, why do you appear resistant to it going the other way round?

Dear Hasbro,

QUESTION 1:
The current Padme Figure (#67) is based off of the Arena Confrontation from EII. My question is why include the scratch on her back and not go the full nine yards and give her the torn and sleeveless outfit? or include a soft good cape?

QUESTION 2:
Is a Holographic Mace Windu in the works, if so will it be based off of the often released ROTS #10 sculpt, or can we expect it to be created from the new (superior) 30th Anniversary tooling?

QUESTION 3:
Be honest now, is the current rash of error/mismatched figure bases a quality control issue or is it a conspiracy to sell the upcoming Figure Bases through HasbroToyShop.com?

QUESTION 4:
In the upcoming Order 66 two-Pack with Yoda and Kashyyyk Elite Clone Trooper, will the Elite Trooper include the DC-15 rifle or pistol?

Please say rifle... please say rifle...

QUESTION 5:
In regards to the Wal-Mart Special 2-Packs, who designates the pairing of figs, you (Hasbro) or Wal-Mart? As some of the pairing seem odd like Luke (Endor) with Gragra; C-3PO with Utapau Clone Trooper or Naboo Pilot with Endor Rebel Trooper.

After looking through pics of the figures at Toyfair, I have a couple of questions. Will the Saga Legends Episode 3 Clone Trooper be a repack of the SA #41 Clone or the Jet Pack Clone? From the pics at ToyFair I assume it is just a display for the card. My next question refers to the new Vintage Imperial Stormtrooper(hoth gear). Will he have a ball jointed head or a removable helmet? I cannot tell from the pics. My final question, will we have to buy all 6 vintage figs to mail in for the coins or will it be like last time, where at the end of the promotion it was any 5 figures? Thank you.
Some poses may require additional support. Product and colors may vary.

Dear Hasbro, when designing the Episode III Jedi Starfighters, why was the decision made not to allow collectors use their purchased Astromech figures interface with the droid socket? (Like certain molds of the X-Wing and Y-Wing starfighter.) It seems strange to produce character specific JSFs and droids (Mace Windu's & Darth Vader's specifically) and have them not be able to interact or "plug in" to their respective vehicles. (Also the newest Mace Windu in the 30th Anniv. line can't sit down, thus can't fit in the cockpit of his JSF.)

Would it be possible to retool the socket to allow for this in the future?

It seems that problems/oversites like this are the reasons why vehicles (of any scale) don't sell in greater numbers. The interactivity between the products release during the duration of a line, Episode III & Saga in this case, just isn't there.

May we PLEASE have a NEW Millennium Falcon?

Postby darklord1967 » Thu Mar 15, 2007 3:03 am

An open letter to HASBRO TOYS:

Dear Hasbro,

Apologies for this very long post, but it's important.

As many people who know me can attest, I am a HUGE fan (and consumer) of your STAR WARS toy products.

I've been collecting STAR WARS toys for 30 years, and I think you guys are doing an AMAZING job giving collectors what we want year after year!!!

We are certainly a nit-picky bunch, but you guys have been steadily improving the quality of products from your STAR WARS brand.

Bravo to you all !!! Kudos and congratulations!! I wish you all many continued years of success.

I am writting because I read in one of your recent Q&A sessions that an upgrade of a (close to) correctly-scaled MILLENNIUM FALCON toy is NOT out of the realm of possibility as a future product.

I wanted to write and tell you what a THRILL such an offering would be for all of us collectors... of all ages!!

I cannot stress enough how a properly scaled, and upgraded Millennium Falcon would be a DREAM COME TRUE for us all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I know such a toy would be BIG... really BIG! we're talkin' about 5.5 feet in length and about 4 feet in diameter saucer portion). And certainly it would have to be EXPENSIVE (figure about a $400 - $450 price point).

But I'm telling you, die-hard STAR WARS fans and collectors EVERYWHERE would DEFINITELY BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you hear Hasbro? WE COLLLECTORS WOULD HAPPILY BUY THIS TOY!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, this could be THE GREATEST Star Wars toy EVER MADE... if done correctly!!!! Here are the features that I'd like to see:

1) An accurate sculpt spaceship that closely resembles the Lucasfilm model's proportion. (No more wierd Kenner proportions). I'd like nice, LONG mandibles, and six round (sculpted) vents in the aft section of the ship that are actually covered with grates (not stickers). A pivoting and rotating Radar Dish that would actually have separate detailing pieces of the antenna array inside the dish. Of course the weathering and paint deco on the hull would have to be TOPS.

2) There would be the correct design and number of landing gear that would fold up inside the hull of the ship and be concealed inside of closing panels.

3) The boarding ramp would be re-structured to be the correct design, with FOUR (4) hydraulic struts that retract into the entry hull of the ship.

4) A retractable light blaster cannon that lowers and pivots from a concealed compartment on the ships's underside hull.

5) Dorsal and Ventral Quad Laser Turrets with manual "pump action" cannons attached to the same pivot rack mount as seen in the film.

6) Working Concussion Missles Launcher operating from between the mandibles.

7) Electronic lights and sounds: Working headlights on the mandibles, rear engines lights, "proximity alert" sound FX, Quad Laser turret sound FX, engine flyby sound FX, Hyperdrive sound FX.

8) Full Detailed Cockpit Environment featuring accurately sculpted pilot and co-pilot seats that pivot, two pivoting rear passenger seats, accurately sculpted dashboard with pilot and co-pilot flight wheel controls, working rear cabin door.

9) Fully Detailed Interior Environment accessable by lifting off various hull panels would feature:

Accurately designed Main Hold with seating banquet nook and Dejark Holochess Table, accurate floor panel grating, Navigation console and chair.

SIDE NOTE: It would be cool if Hasbro threw in a bag full of crates, and barrels and junk nick-knacks that were littered about the Falcon's hold.

Access Tunnel leading to cockpit. Accessable by Main Hold, and by Entry Ramp area. No more cardboard panel with a drawing of the tunnel !!

2 Hidden compartment floor panels (along access tunnel leading toward entry ramp). The two compartments should be large enough to hold three figures each.

Vertical ladder at the core of the ship leading to dorsal and ventral Quad Laser Turret Gun Ports. Ports should be designed with instrumentation along the walls, swivelling turret chairs with "hand grip" steering for Luke and Han, and targeting scope monitors. Gun ports should have large round circular windows with transparent canopies.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Both Gun Ports should be designed so that they are canted at 90º in relation to the rest of the ship. With Luke and Han figures seated in their gunport chairs, the "vertical" ladder at the ship's core SHOULD appear to them to be a HORIZONAL passageway where they can speak to one another.

Medical Bunk Bed Station for Luke to recover from his devastating first saber battle with Darth Vader.

Fellow collectors... who's with me? Let your voice be heard loud and clear!!!

I definitely want it to be made too Darklord... but I think we have a better chance of something like that being made if and only if Hasbro allows for someone like Gentle Giant to take a crack at it... just imagine the Attakus version, done in Gentle Giant's plastic... wow.

I'd be fine with half a Falcon if they did it that way. :)

I am with you 100%, that does indeed sound like a dream come true! I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

The measurements sound kind of impossible though, how would anybody pick it up and fly it around and all?

I'd also love a Tantive IV large vehicle
