Ewoks/Rebel Pilots TRU Exclusive Sets

Postby darth_sidious » Thu Sep 08, 2011 9:53 am

This just in from Echobasenews via the Q&A:

1. Can we expect to see Kneesaa and Chukha-Trok from the Ewoks cartoon released in the near future?

We are seriously considering both of these figures as part of a 2012 exclusive. We have some details to work out with our retail partners so we can't make any promises, but we would like to deliver both of these next year.

ee should just always get 2-4 new comicpacks a year as exclusives, keep eu alive, give us some obscure characters and get great sets like this one
"From Endor to Hoth/ Ripley to Spock
I'll find what you want/ But there's gonna be a cost
See, my name is Boba Fett/ I know my [shots are] tight
Start not actin'right/ You're frozen in carbonite"

More Ewoks sounds fine to me... hell - I can't ever remember ANY of the little furballs pegwarming.

I'm sure Hasbro is trying to figure out a way to put a Vader figure in the set

Thats right - because they dont pegwarm, the demand has remained high during the modern line(s) - those various 2-packs over the years vanished so fast that many had trouble finding them. The vintage Ewoks move just as fast - look at Wicket, to this day, I have only seen one at retail! Logray seems to be seeming nearly as fast, I have only seen him twice - and none stick around.

I imagine once Hasbro releases the core resculpts that people are expecting from ROTJ, like Lumat, Teebo, Widdle, Oochee, etc - and the core EU Ewoks like Kneesaa, Chukha-Trok, Kaink (movie version), etc demand may slow down, but that is years off. Depending on how big this exclusive is, it might be a huge nod to Ewok fans and cover a lot of ground...

Hasbro could (and maybe should) follow up with some Endor Battle Packs with Ewoks as a dominant theme.

Set One
- Ewok (new!)
- Ewok (repaint)
- Endor Rebel (head variant)
- Imperial Stormtrooper

Set Two
- Ewok (new!)
- Ewok (repaint)
- Endor Rebel (head variant)
- Imperial Scout Trooper

I have a hard time thinking these wouldn't do better than the Endor pilot sets. But, with 2 of the figures in these sets being tiny, I'd think Hasbro would need to find a way to have the MSRP be a little cheaper, or pack in some sort of "added value" with perhaps extra Ewok weapons, accessories, etc.

Hasbro offering something at a reasonable price don't be silly man!
If i wanted figures like Rebels and Legends series i'd build a time machine. Even if i did want them, i'd probably still need a time machine..

I'd like some BPs that feature Ewoks with other characters, like Chewie mentioned, but I dont want them to be TRU exclusives, those are a total ripoff. Hasbro can pack 2 regular figures and 2 Ewoks into a basic BP for the same $20 pricepoint. Theres no way I'm paying $32+ for 4 repacked / repainted figures, thats why I passed on both TRU Endor pilot sets.

A great BP would be 2 AT-ST drivers (1 repack, 1 new head), as well as Widdle and Oochee (both can be the same new body sculpt - with new heads /hoods)

Yeah, they really need to get that AT-ST driver figure back into circulation. I'm surprised they didn't put him in the Vintage line yet as a basic figure...?

Excellent idea! I'd go for this. It sounds exactly like a Hasbro battlepack. I'd doubt they would just give us an all ewok set that has repacks/repaints/ new head sculpts/accessories and no trooper types. Hasbro would want some variety in there and your idea sounds solid to me.

Those look really good, as do the Rebel pilots - which I can stomach because they are good sculpts.
