Wal-Mart Kicking Movie Heroes to the curb?

Postby YAK_Chewie » Fri Jul 27, 2012 10:42 am

Report at Jeditemplearchives

If this is true, it's completely, I feel it's 100% due to Hasbro's failure to deliver a worthy product to their retail partners. It's sad, but I'd like to point my finger in the faces of the folks at Hasbro and say, "Told ya this line sucks!"

I hope this does happen - that Wal-Mart completely drops Movie Heroes, and this is wake-up call for Hasbro. Because they are handling the line worse than ever. But instead, the people there probably will try and find a way to blame it on a "lack of collector support."

Per Jedi Temple Archives.... Walmart puts movie hero's on deleted product list

Surely collector's don't know what they are talking about, and don't understand the kid market.

Well it is our fault, we clearly didn't appreicate that we needed the figures we already had, at higher prices.

I cheered like Jar Jar when I read that new JTA update. The reaction in the comments section is predictable but sweet. It's a hoot reading all of them...and posting replies.

This is fine, but it still leaves TPM vintage on the pegs

If they had just made Wave 1 more like Wave 2(i.e. all-new sculpts with some really neat gimmicks) AND shipped a whole lot less of it then this might not be happening. And the entire Movie Heroes line might not be tainted with the stench of abject Fail that has rubbed off on the figures that surround it on pegs.

But the cost-cutting, corner-trimming cheapazoids at Hasbro thought they knew better. "They're Star Wars geeks...they'll buy anything we slap on a blister card!" Guess what, Big H. We won't.

The bombing of Movie Heroes is your fault. Not ours.

Agreed... I'd also suggest they could have made it more collector oriented, with a lot of kid friendly characters, like we talked about in the HASBRO SUGGESTION THREAD.

Seriously, one really has to wonder what in the world they were thinking with how they handled Movie Heroes this year... AND Clone Wars. Vintage would be almost as bad if they hadn't had so many NEW sculpts in the TPM wave. But even those were overproduced and carried forward too much in Waves 2 and 3.

I can't believe that the people who made these horrible decisions still have jobs. They will keep their jobs, I'm sure - while the lower workers for Hasbro, who had NOTHING to do with these decisions, will be the ones who suffer.

Of note, I guess it "could" be the Discover The Force stuff that this is really referring to. But I hope it's Movie Heroes. That line is just beyond pathetic.

Probably Movie Heroes. Most likely Movie Heroes. Because next year's 2013 MH figures will have an entirely different SKU in the computer system, so they can purge these figures now and it won't affect their stocking of 2013 product whatsoever.

Who knows? It might be BOTH Movie Heroes and Discover the Force. At my stores, they all tend to hang from the same "SW Movie Legends" pegs. They're all just sort of thrown and grouped together anyways.

What everyone needs to realize is that this is SCARRY!! If the Mart is really going to disco and this isn't a clear out/make room for next year's models then this is a serious blow. They won't simply place new SW product there, they will give it something that WILL sell. Let's face it, even with the CW on the line is winding down. Hasbro can tell us new figures are coming all they want, but if the major retailer in the world says we are scaling you back, Hasbro will be rethinking the Star Wars in general. I don't live in a large metropolitan area. We have the same figures from late 2011 still hanging on the WM pegs. But the stores that I visit outside of my area aren't in much better shape. Hasbro is failing to offer value to the customers in these tough economic times. The figures are smaller, fewer pack-ins and higher prices..... The other half of the equation is that either Target will see this and say cool we can corner them on this little corner of the toy world, or they say, well if WM can get away with not selling them, maybe we can to.....

From what it looks like it will be the line that came with the 3-D glasses. Which makes since because it was an exclusive to Wal-mart and TPM has come and gone from theaters. The other peg warmers will still be there. I haven't purchased any Vintage and I am a big fan of the Vintage line, but with TPM clogging those pegs and the $10 price point I'm just not in any hurry.

I hope Movie Heroes Wave 1 gets liquidated. I so, so do.

DTF? A bit boring to look at after almost six months on the pegs...but tolerable. The remaining figures are marginally better than the crap we were shoveled with MH. Movie Heroes Wave 1? They need to put a barf bag dispenser in the action figure aisle before you so much as look at them.

The note says SW Movie Legends.......they still can't have Legends cases in their system can they? I could see DTF as well.

It's possible that Hasbro will make a new Legends/GH line for 2013. They might give up the kiddie gimmeícks and go with a more Legends-like line.

Most retailers are calling the MH line "Legends". The next time you head to Target or Walmart (not sure about TRU), look at the shelf tags. It say Movie Legends right on them.
