Chewie, I totally agree with you on the Rose figure. It has a lot of potential for "army building." I like what you are doing with the buck and look forward to seeing some other iterations of this figure.

Thanks guys - and I think Rose is actually the best figure from the wave, and probably my favorite (well, Luke might be my favorite because it's old man Luke finally, and he's a damn good figure other than his hands tend to fall out of the socket).

I appreciate the feedback everyone. :)

I really like that Bodhi Rook. I wish there were a generic body like that which was already the right color. I just don't want to have to paint the entire figure.

Thanks, and yeah I wish they'd just make Bodhi properly! They should release him in the TVC line.

Also, I might be taking a stab at making a somewhat large custom vehicle soon... something like this from The Force Awakens:

I really like this design, but am not sure where to start. Anyone seen a custom of this made before? I'm not going to try and replicate it completely, just general look and feel...

I'd build it in 3 parts: Sides and middle. For the middle, I'd build 3 of the outer walls, add all the interiors before adding the last wall. I'd have the floor and the side walls made from a strong material since they will have to carry all the weight.

After having spent most of this year designing a 1:18 scale U-Wing out of cardboard, I'd say go for scratch building from cardboard! :D

I'm not planning to build this vehicle, but if I were, I'd go for 1:18 scale or 1:20.

I think the Resistance Troop Transport is modular -- it comes apart in three sections. (I predict this will be revealed in TLJ.) This LEGO set appears to be the cockpit section of the Resistance Troop Transport detached.

Image

Furthermore, I wonder if the cockpit section and cannon section are meant to also be joined together.

So if I were designing and building this (out of cardboard), I'd start with the cockpit section. Then I'd make the cannon section. Last would be the troop transport section. I'd design the three sections to lock together into one vehicle, and optionally you would be able to join the cockpit and cannon sections together. This would certainly give it a lot of play value!

BTW, here's my 1:18 scale cardboard U-Wing. The building plans are available for download for free.

WOW, that is super weird!!!!!!! Good catch on that. I would have never expected that to happen, or be a re-use of the same design.

And Chewie, as always, your work is excellent. I love background, mundane, and militia, and you always deliver on all those things in the perfect way.

If my guess is correct (that the Resistance Troop Transport is a modular vehicle with three sections), then the other two configurations look like this:

Image

The cockpit section could be what the LEGO set calls the Resistance Transport Pod.

This would make a really cool toy. All three sections joined together, and you have a big vehicle that holds a lot of figures. You could join the cockpit pod and cannon section together to make a smaller ship. The cockpit pod itself could be its own vehicle. The middle section that holds the troops could also be used on its own as a Resistance camp playset. Perhaps the cannon section could be stood up along its back and used as an anti-aircraft cannon. (Or, maybe it could be attached to the middle section but with the cannons pointing skyward. This way you have a Resistance camp playset that's armed with anti-aircraft cannons.) So there's a lot of play value with this vehicle.

Wow! Yak Chewie that is some outstanding work. You have gone to town and smashed the place up with these, excellent! It has given me a joint to get on with some more, if I can just clear these cobwebs...

I though I had commented on these... but at some coercion so that you are encouraged to make more  I think they are wonderful and splendid. Love them all, especially the Jedha troops and denizens. The weird and unexplained eyeball is pretty cool... something you'd see in some 80s toy line.
