Re: Incom's Customs: Female AT-AT Driver for Tamer from ISY

What material did you use for the straps on the legs? It seems to hold its shape well but still look like cloth. Also, what color and brand of grey is her jumpsuit? That is just the color I need. Can I pick your next female trooper? Too late, I already did.......Female bog trooper.......but you knew that I was gonna say that. I will be looking forward to this new endeavor

Fantastic work as usual man!! The mesh work (Joe/ SW) is awesome and nice proportions!
Don't be too optimistic. The light at the end of the tunnel may be another train...

Paul, the straps were made from strips of Lego sail. Awesome stuff to make straps, belts, slings, etc.

Didn't write it down, but iirc her jumpsuit was painted with Testors (Light) Gull Grey, washed with Reaper's Storm Grey (I think, a very dark colour anyways) and drybrushed again with Testors Gull Grey.

Female Bog Trooper.... that's rich, man

Re: Incom's Customs: Bumblebee as a Mini Cooper

Postby Incom » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:03 pm

Over at ProCustomizers.com Jazzman inspired me to jump right in and make my very first TF custom a reshell project. And while I was off to a flying start, I feel I kind of stranded in sight of the finish line. I had to abandon the transforming process, because of room issues in the rear wheel wells. That's okay, though, since most Transformers are displayed in bot mode anyway.

But in the end I fell short of skills in the decal and airbrushing departments. I just couldn't get the decals nice enough: they're really dark grey and have "ghost" edges. Don't know what it is, but it's something I'll have to keep in mind in the future. And while my Tamiya gloss black went on very smoothly, the gloss varnish has this fine sandpaper like structure :(

Still, it clearly resembles my brother's Mini Cooper and I hope he'll like it. Despite the setbacks, I had a blast working on a Transformer and I've been stockpiling on those ever since I started this project!

So, here's Bumblebee as a Mini, dubbed "Coop"!

Wow, I'd have to assume that Tamer is very pleased by that female AT-AT driver... you've really become quite a professional customizer Incom... you've always been awesome, but how you present them now with your pics makes them stand out even moreso.

I hope so, Justin. The AT-AT Driver hasn't arrived yet, but I expect her to anytime soon.

Thanks for the praise as well, buddy, I wouldn't have come this far without the inspiration and help from you and the other renowned customizers of old :D

Getting better at this all has to do with practice, but also quite a lot with getting inspiration from other customizers' creations.

ill echo chewies comments that you have become about as professional as one can get in a hobby! your presentation really looks great and your work over all is incredibly high end, it looks as natural as it could have come from a factory but much better quality and much more detailed. i have seen a few customizers do transformer customs and those to mee seem like a challenge with all the moving parts and small crevesses that make up those figures. you have done an amazing job on this trans-cooper, i love the checker board pattern!

A belated thanks guys! Going back to SW again, which is always nice. Here's an early WIP of a Trandoshan Mercenary. Easy parts mix of a GI Joe ROC RIA suit Ripcord body and VOTC Bossk parts. He's headed for an untimely demise once he's finished though....

Here's an update on Ulthane, the big guy from the Darksiders game. Darksiders 2 is coming up soon, really looking forward to that!

And here's an update on my Afro Samurai project:

First attempt using the crumpled tin foil ball technique:

Second attempt, using a technique pointed out to me by fellow customizer Jimster:

Re: Incom's Customs: Master Ven Zallow v2 04/03/12

Postby Incom » Tue Apr 03, 2012 6:31 am

Thanks guys :D

Here's my second version of Master Ven Zallow, well known from the "Deceived" trailer. The parts are the same as the first one, but on the commissioner's request I made the armour a lighter shade of green. I sculpted the hair a bit differently as well this time.

In case you have missed my first version, here's a shot of him again:
