Presto chango!

And the leg straps too:
"Hey man! Am I ever gonna get my body back??"

Yup, we'll paint your head next!

Time to paint the head. I've put him on a donor figure so I dont get any paint on all the stuff I've already done on the rest of the figure.

First, I am gonna put a base color down. Here are the two colors I'll use for that:
Image

I got a big glop of the first color, dunk it in the water:
Image

And put it on my figure stand that I am gonna use to mix on:
Image

Second color, more water:
Image

Mix......
Image

Ooooo! Way to dark!
Image

Some more of the lighter color:
Image

And apply a wash to the face:

"This isnt that fufu stuff you wife uses is it?"

Image

I've let that dry. Now I'm gonna drybrush on the top color, very lightly, this is the color I'm gonna use for that:
Image

With the poor lighting and the flash, it's hard to see the results, but here they are:
Image

Touch up his hair a bit and attach to my figure!

"Yeah man! NOW I'm starting to feel like myself again!"

"Hey man! How about some eyes?"
Yes, of course.

Image

First, I'm going to use a very small brush (25/0) and dab in some white using this color:
Image

Kinda colored outside the lines, but that's ok.
Image

A couple of dabs of the same brown I used in his cammo, so his eyes stand out:
Image

And mix a bit of the colors I used for his face and touch up where I went out of the eyes with the white:
Image

And some eyebrows. The black really seems dark in the picture but doesnt look quite a bad in person. I can tone it down with a wash if I want to:

"Hey! I can see!"

A buddy called tonight, so instead of trying to continue, I figured I'd do some touch ups here and there while I talked with him.

I need to patch the hole that I made last night with the dremel. I'll use some of this stuff, let it dry overnight and paint over it tomorrow:
Image

Ok, got that patched.
Image

Next, I want to paint the vibro blades and the canisters on leg. To do that I am going to use this color:
Image

I am gonna paint the little rings on the canisters with this color:
Image

And here's how it looks:
Image

Well, that's all I got left in me for tonight.
"Yawn...yeah me too."
Tomorrow, I'll paint the helmet and backpack, do some touch-ups here and there and add one last secret that will hopefully really make him stand out!

"Yawn...Welcome back guys! Today the boss is gonna get me some gear. Aint that right, boss?"

Image

Yup. First we'll get your pack done.

Using the same cammo technique described earlier, I paint the first cammo color on:
Image

And the second:
Image

Using the color I used to paint the canisters on his leg, I'll paint the ones on his pack. I'll also paint the little display window on the back of the pack using this color:
Image

There we go. Kinda hard to see the window with the flash though:
Image

And to give it to our boy:

"Yeah man! It matches great!"

Darn, that's one heck of a cool camo clone, Hawkeye. Looking forward to seeing his helmet!

But wouldn't it be easier to leave the head off the peg when priming and painting the body? I mean, now you have to repaint a head that already was painted....

Painted by Hasbro.
No thanks.

If I'm gonna take the time to do the whole figure, might as well do the head too!

Time to finish his helmet.

I've made a running change and added a Marauder Inc scope serve as the tac lamp:

Image

My Galactic Marine buddy here is gonna wear the helmet for me while I paint so I don't get paint on the rest of the Commando.

"Hey man, I'm sick of being a Marine! I wanna be a Commando! I'm next, right?"
No, I'm out of Commando parts, and the next one I get will be going to my SA Sev figure to finish off my Delta Squad.

Image

"But I'd dont wanna be a Marine anymore!"
Image

Fine. You can always join them:
Image

"Where are they going?"
To pick up dog poop. I know there is always an opening on thier squad.
"Hey man, Marine is good! I dig being a Marine! Hand me that helmet already!"
Uh-huh. I thought so.

Image

Ok, here it is after the first cammo color:
Image

And the second, and I'm glad I'm done painting cammo!
Image

Now for the visor. In the pic it starts off a light blue and moves to a dark blue then to black. That's what I am gonna do. For the light blue I am gonna use this color here:
Image

One small strip across the top. I'm not too worried about it being uneven, as it's light in the visor, it wouldnt be even in real life either:
Image

Now some of that metallic blue I was using last night:
Image

And some gloss black at the bottom.
Image

I do one or two more washs with both the blue and black. It will now change color depending on how the light hits it. Direct light it's more blue, less light, it's more black. I really cant take a picture of that at this point to show you. But here is the end result on our boy!

"HELL yeah! Gimme a gun and point me in the right direction, SIR!"

Well, he's done!

Time to take some pictures!

I am gonna use what's called a light box to take them in. They are about 40.00 on amazon.com and worth every penny. It allows you to take good pictures anytime of the day or night.

Image

Unfortunalty, my puppy knocked my table over some time ago and broke both my bulbs for the lights.
The next best thing is indirect natural light.

He also needs a name.

Since he's my demo guy for this team, I thought I'd call him "Detcord".

And for the end results....

And here he is:

Republic Commando, Theta Squad, Demolitions Expert,
RC-3473, "Detcord"
