Oh wow! Where to start!? They looks like quite the ruthless bunch of pirates, indeed!

LOVE the captain. He looks cocky and mean, but not at all unlikeable.

Pilot: You're getting some good use out of the Terminator parts, I'm going to have to take a closer look at them.

Mechanic: I really like the idea of a Jawa mechanic!

The Brute: We seem to see fodder very similarly, I have a somewhat similar custom in the work (different species though). I HATE that body for Wookiees, but when I start swapping out some of the larger, hairy alien heads on it, I grew to like it! I think Talz (that's the species name, right?) are some of the rarest customs, due to a lack of good parts... good solution to the problem.

Boarding Party: Love the armor on the first one. Looks worn and you did a good job of making it look different than the armor it's based on.

I love that droid design, awesome you've got access to molds of it. What're the guns from, they look familiar too.

The 3rd one shows there is still some use to be found in older fodder, with the right accessories!

Very nice use of those arms and jacket, I wouldn't have thought them slim enough to work on a female, but they look great.

The group shot is a thing of beauty! Great work!

Looks like I have a lot of comments to catch up on with the amazing batch that Ernest Borgnine just posted... WOW.

Until then, here's a couple that I just finished up:

Josaar Telth - Misguided Ishi Tib Jedi who is a close acquaintance to Syloth Narks.

Image

head - POTF2 Ishi Tib
hands - SAGA Coleman Trebor
rest - Evolutions Secret Apprentice

Syloth Tars - Misguided human Jedi who is a close acquaintance to Jotaar Telth.

Image

head - Legacy Captain Needa
hood - Legacy Emperor Palpatine
rest - Evolutions Qui Gon

Both of these will serve a dual purpose, as they will also show up in my photonovel series.

Boy I've been derelict in commenting on these, really great entries!

Ernest Borgnine: WOW. This is an amazing team. Awesome use of parts, very creative, I love the wrestler head heh. The muftak wookiee is a great idea, why didn't I think of that?? The best though is the Umpass-Stay. Verrrry nice.

bobhendrix:: Usually I'm not a fan of using GIJoe parts for Star Wars customs, but those Ithorians look really cool. The stormtrooper team is creatively done, I'd love to see closeups of the members though! :-)

DanOfTheDead:
* Nice imperial team, love the intel officer! What's with the guy on the torture rack? heh
* The wookiee is very creative, love it!
* The female scuba lady is beautifully done, very creative as well.
* Great looking twi'lek grunt, very creative (again!) and beautifully executed.

Luke Sprywalker: I'm averse to the animated style, but this is a very nice paint job!

Thanks for all the kind words.

I don't have many Joes that I usually use, but when those 25th Anniversary Packs came out a couple of years ago, I new I had Mara's young head and body for an Emperor's Hand from the Joe and Cobra Packs. I didn't know what I was going to do with the rest, but then I saw the Joes as great Endor Troopers.

Here's some closer pics of the Hand of Judgement. They are basic, but it's how I saw them as I read Allegiance. Which if you haven't read, you should. Even if you haven't read any of the other EU books, you won't miss anything...as long as you've seen SW and ESB, you'll be able to figure out what's going on! :D

Ernest, those pirates are awesome. Especially the Muftak, Umpass and the Max droid!

Everyone's entries look amazing! I think this is one of the best looking Yakfinities yet. CHEWIE's Jedi look superb and are a terrific use of parts. The Ithorians made by bobhendrix are such neat looking characters and they have a cool backstory. And Ernest, your pirate team looks AMAZING. I never thought of using the Star Trek belts for Jawas, but it looks really cool and I think that's what I'll be using my extra belts for. The Talz also looks fantastic, why didn't I think of that? Awesome, awesome, work.

I've been working on a Jedi team that I hope to have posted today or tomorrow! It'll be great to finally have an entry after several months of missing out. :D

HOLY CRAP MY BRAIN IS ON OVERLOAD! So many great new entries, no WIP's just beautiful finished products.

Chewie - Love the Ishi Tib species and love your new Jedi. Great parts great paint. The misguided human looks very dark and cool as can be. Love the hood on him.

Ernest - I knew your team would be unique and very creative, and I was right. I love your style and parts combos/ the fodder you have available and the way you use it. It is just a bit different from anything else you see. The Captain looks like a fun guy to swashbuckle with. Nice job meshing the POTC parts with Star Wars and great paint aps. The Pilot is one of the coolest in the group. Amazing choice on the parts, color choices and paint aps. I could not tell that was a Jango head at all. The Jawa is a funny touch and looks great. I also love the Muftak head on the wookie body. Simple and effective, much better than the Hasbro version. Then the boarding party. Man that is an awesome figure. I would buy that any day. Again one of the best in the group. I can't believe how well you pulled off those legs but the paint job makes it. The droid is awesome. Has an old sci fi feel and great use of the newer guns from the Gun Box pack ins. I would also buy a few of these. The Rodian is OK, Great paint aps but the parts are dull for what what we are used to from you. Then you finish it off with the beautiful female. Again great parts mix and paint aps, love her.

bob - Those are some cool looking Ithorians. The one in brown pants looks very real word and the all green camo one looks like the cartoon version. Great job meshing the Joe parts with them, They look great.
Mars Jade and the Troopers are very cool as well. I really like this version of Mara and great articulation on her .

Well, my surgery is just 1 day away now, and I didn't get a chance to do my introductory photonovel for the Renegades. I did want to go ahead and post one final group shot and reveal the identity of the mystery member:

Image

I certainly hope Chewie doesn't mind me borrowing his character for this role. I have no idea what Chewie's got planned for Rykrof's future, so consider this a "What if?" Rykrof, as he might appear as an older, battle weary officer in the Rebellion. Chewie's customs and photonovels are a big inspiration to me, and I decided this might be a nice homage while I was trying to decide just who would've put this group together. I toyed with incorporating the Rykrof-verse even more with the Renegades, with Forlon possibly being a relative of Freelo (or Freelo himself) and I also considered giving Velliera the last name Iceburn, making her Rykrof's niece. Ultimately I decided to just "borrow" Rykrof, as I didn't want to rely to heavily on Chewie's established storyline.

I aged the iconic Rykrof head by using a new x-acto blade to slice worry-lines, smile-lines, and crow's feet around the forehead, mouth, and eyes. A wash of darkbrown was applied and wiped away to bring out the lines, and I peppered some gray into his hair and beard to make him look about 20-30 years older than he appears in the current Rykrof storyline.

Image

I appreciate all the feedback I've gotten on these figures, they were a blast to work on! Really enjoyed seeing everyone else's work, too, some great concepts and excellent figures this round!

Wow... simply amazing buddy.

I am more than blown away that you'd use my fan fic character to lead this group, I am humbled by this a lot. And the fact that you pulled off an older version of Rykrof well beyond anything I think I could ever do is just awesome. It really does look like an older verison of him, amazing!! And you know what, you made him look very real too. The changes you did are crazy good. I am going to have to absolutely use this for reference if I am able to somehow continue the series showing Rykrof as an older man.

And your entire group has been nothing short of one of the most memorable entries ever in the history of these Customizing Challenges... they're so much fun but when someone like you jumps in and gets this involved, it makes it all the more enjoyable for myself and everyone involved. You have no doubt raised the bar.

Hope all goes well with your surgery tomorrow too... take care and hope to see you back online when you're feeling up to it.

Great work Dan. Nice choice for the leader and you nailed the older look for Rykrof. Amazing paint job on his head, he looks so real. I am just floored by your team. Great design and execution on all of them. The background and photo quality really bring them to life. One of the best teams I have ever seen...
