2009-2010 Red and White Retail Sightings

Postby YAK_Chewie » Fri Jun 19, 2009 1:26 pm

From the front page today, I saw some of the new Legends figures today. Well, not "NEW" but they were the new packaging. This was at a Wal-Mart - they had about two cases worth it seemed. Didn't need any of it since it was all stuff I already have... If memory serves me right, this is what they had -

- Sandtrooper
- 501 Clone Trooper
- ROTS Yoda
- Mustafar Anakin/Vader
- Mustafar Obi Wan
- Sae Sae Tiin
- Darth Vader
- ROTS SA Clone
- Super Battle Droid

I'd say about 2-3 of each figure, I didn't count. I might be missing something too, but it was all just repacked figures.

Anyone else see these in stores yet?

I saw a case of the new red and white figures at a local Walmart. The local scene is notorious for scalpers so I have no idea how many were initially put out. This Walmart is being renovated so I don't think they put out more than a case or two. I was tempted to pick up another 501st Clone.

Yeah, I love the 501st... if I had not bought so many Appo figures I would certainly get more of this version.

However what aggravates me is why are these hitting when the B.A.D wave of AOTC figures isn't showing up? Seems like someone has this stuff out of order... I'm actually a bit worried that the AOTC wave isn't going to be ordered a lot? Sometimes at the tail end of a packaging design a wave gets the shaft at retail.

Usually, for me, it's an issue if there is an accompanying assortment/sku/DPCI change. Since these all carry forward from the blue/white design, I think that the AOTC wave should be plentiful.... eventually.

Wait, the front page mentioned something about a price hike? How much? I'm getting really sick of these high prices that keep jumping around.

Just to clarify, there's no new price hike (yet), Justin was just commenting on the modern line as a whole going through steady increases over the past few months/years.

Sorry Diddly, I revised that a bit. I can see how that could be misleading.

Actually, I didn't even take them to the price scanner - for all I know, if I did it might has said "PLEASE SEE ASSOCIATE"

Has anyone tried putting this packaging in a Star Case? Do they fit? Which version of the Star Case is best with these? I know that I won't be buying 99% of this crap, but I'd like to know for the few I plan to get.

I would assume they fit as the cards are smaller than every carded figure before it. As I recall, the new cards are the same size as Hasbro's Marvel figure line to be "more green".

Saw more of these again tonight at a different Wal-Mart. Definitely tempting, but not going to cave in on repacks that I just don't need.

I've seen these around for about a week now, but just repacks and only at Target.

Thanks for posting the card size comparison pics, Jayson! :)

While it appears the new packaging will fit in a Star Case 4, it's not a snug fit and ProTech will have to design a new one for these. They have pretty much rolled with the punches so far, so I guess we'll see what comes of it.

I see these in full force at the local walmart a few days ago (got me a blue ARC trooper and Hoth Soldier)

There had to have been close to 1,000 figures total on all the racks.

Once I find out I'm getting paid I'm gobbling up all the Hoth troopers and Snowtroopers.

Building HK-47 is a must as well.

Well I saw the new Legends packaging at TRU yesterday which i was not happy to see since we have seen nothing beyond the B.A.D ROTS wave and CW's wave 4.

I've seen the new legends at Target, I like the smaller cards - hopefully the reduced size will help them from being cramed together on the pegs - I dont know how many times I've seen kids and collectors create an avalanche of figures because the cards were too tall and packed too close together...
