$5 is honestly a decent price point for this line. That’s a decent price to invite kids to start collecting, and then segue into TVC. I just don’t see kids buying this line otherwise though. And obviously, collectors aren’t going out of their way to buy it either.

I think that really is the issue, where people (kids included) are going to be priced out of the hobby. I have no clue what an average kid’s allowance is now, but mine was $50 a month, with potential for extra if I did additional chores. That’s not even three figures at $16.99 each…

$17-28 for a single TVC figure isn't likely to pull in many kids, so I can understand why they need more options for consumers that aren't 40-year-old men. I know this is a radical notion to some hardcore collectors, but I think they need to do more to get the younger generations into the brand, rather than catering to us, as adults. Personally, I would cap TVC at $15, Retro at $10, and Epic at $8. The higher the prices go, the fewer casual consumers will buy these products, they'll just wait for sales or clearance.

As for Epic sales, it's hard to determine based only on the three of us in this thread, lol - over on RS, there is more chatter surrounding collectors buying these, as well as some people seeing them move at retail, as I have. I think it's all about distribution and stock levels though, if an area is flooded with any product, including TVC and TBS, they will likely pegwarm. They're showing up at Target now though, so maybe the sales at WM and Amazon were significant enough to warrant Target wanting to stock them as well...

I am 100% on board with a budget line for kids... I just don't think 5poa figures in bland white packaging is the way to go.

They need to look back to the style of figures let's say in 2004 Saga line. Those don't have that much more articulation, but aren't "chonky" like fhe Epic Hero stuff, and are very versatile... and variety with aliens and droids! Such variety that is absent today. If they could produce a variety of figures like that in the $10 range, they'd have a mass appeal to both kids and collectors.

😉

It’s just crazy to me that no one stocks TVC like this. As soon as some gimmick line is launched they stock it like there’s no tomorrow!!!

Yep... it's absurd. It seems nobody wants these... which really isn't surprising.

These figures suck compared to a lot of other figures in the aisle. Crappy articulation, bland packaging, and boring selection.

I think Hasbro could have a hard time getting retailers to take on subsequent waves.

Just wanted to weigh in on this topic. I've been keeping tabs on this line since it was launched. This is what it looks like at the closest Wal Mart. When it first arrived, there were approximately 40 figures on the pegs. As of today, it appears to be the same number of figures. Even with the markdown, they aren't selling. Talk about metaphorical fruit rotting on the vines.20240518_191033.jpg

That is just an incredible amount of product to push without any media support for it. Absolutely crazy…

I know this thread is mostly a bash-fest, lol, but it's sorta cool to see the pegs loaded with figures, hasn't been like that in years, as TVC usually gets put up in single cases. Keeping the pegs well stocked is what they need to do for a kids line, just like with the TMNT assortment which are loaded on the pegs. I do think under $8 is a good sale price, so hopefully they move in areas where there isn't high traffic, or that have lower demand for toys in general.

We have to remember that even if a line aimed at kids doesn't soar, that budget isn't going to end up transferring to TVC. They're a toy company, so they'll be developing products for kids on a perpetual basis. I've seen a number of Epic Heroes figures moving at both WM and Target, though they have plenty more in most cases - but who knows how they're doing on a national level, and whether they're hitting their profitability mark for Hasbro to continue. They do have a second wave and vehicles planned though. I think they would have been wiser to stick strictly to 3.75, not making them slightly taller - and adding extra POA, as they were doing with some of the Solo figures. It should have never gone away for TROS - the scale is collectively worse off without those extra character options, which are likely never to be made in TVC. If this were to fail, we'd likely just see another line for kids, probably in a different scale / sculpting style.

So even though these figures are meh they now have a vehicle! Just found the N-1 at tarhet for $29.99. So happy to see 3.75 scale vehicles again

Spotted a whole peg of deluxe Maul figures at WM, can't imagine he will move at the $20 error price. I think the design looks decent, but I'd honestly only buy it for $5, lol. I did pick up Ahsoka on discount, as she was the only figure from the first wave that interested me. She fits in near perfectly with the POTF2 EU range of characters and has a "what if" she was around in the 90s vibe.

That Mandalorian 3-pack they just revealed is the only thing that would remotely interest me just because of the generic female Mando.

A repack, repaint, and retool seems pretty lazy for an exclusive, but I suppose they're going to do the same thing they've done in TVC and TBS for years when it comes to reuse. I wish the line had some unique characters; I'd actually buy more of them, were that the case.
