I had two minor issues and sadly they were both with Short Fuze. First, I was unable to put his glasses on while he has his helmet on as shown in the box artwork. Not sure if it was me or not even possible. Second, for some reason they gave him a knife sheath and placed on his lower leg. On mine, it wouldn't stay up and kept sliding down preventing him from being able to stand. I just took it off
Glasses are a tricky thing with figures. I managed to get SF's glasses on him while wearing the helmet, but the temples are not aligned: ones normal, another goes up a bit. I believe I had to hold the front of the helmet apart as I slid it down... or maybe I used a toothpick as well to keep it in place. I had the same issues with Doc, but I ended up not putting a helmet on him in the end. I may end up doing the same with SF. The retro Baroness had little slats on the side of her head to keep them in place, which is nice and preferable to me, but I'm sure other people wouldn't like them if they want to display the figure without their glasses on as it would stand out. Of course, the glasses are made out of softer plastic so it's tough for them to stay on.
The knife sheaths are also issues. Leg holsters, too, tend slide down, wrist sheaths slid up. I try to get them to a point where their snug on the body part, but I'm sure after a while they'll slide wherever they want.
I like the look of the Grim Viper, too, but haven't gotten it. I actually cancelled the pre-order because I was getting hammered with incoming orders for several months and it was getting to be too much. Of course, Hasbro raised the price on them after I did that. I might pick it up later if it goes on sale.
Despite asking for the AWE Striker for Christmas, I did not get it.
Question for the fellow Joe collectors out there; how do you display your Joes? I plan on getting mine on display soon after the first of the year.
Do you display loose figures in a basic, static display? Action scenes? Dioramas?
I have most of mine in a Billy display with 10 levels, some of the big things are in Detlof cases. I wasn't sure how to display the figures. I was thinking of going by year at one point but didn't work for me since you might have one Dreadnok here, another there, so I decided to do kind of a hierarchy/factions route. I split the Billy in half (the doors, essentially with Joes on one side and Cobras on the other. Top shelf is OG13 Joes and Cobra Command (CoCo, Destro, Baroness, Bludd), next few shelves I put some favorite Joes with Cobras being the next step of the command hierarchy, etc. One half-shelf has Dreadnoks, another half-shelf has Iron Grenadiers. One row had the various ninjas from both sides... I have some space to move things around, especially with the Nemesis Enforcer being taller than the shelf I wanted him on....
It'll be interesting to see how you do yours.
