I'm alive!! Just incredibly busy. I do promise that the continuation of my photo-novel series is on its way, however my proper camera is missing (big family, small house. Stuff loves going missing). These pics were taken with my phone, but I won't stoop that low just yet to finish my PN! I've written a whole nearly nine episode saga for that thing (ironic). Ever since seeing TFA and picking up the Rey figure that just HAD to leak before the movie, I really wanted to make something of Ahch-To. Now, after picking up TLJ Luke after Force Friday II, I finally could do something! So wallah! FullSizeRender.jpg
I put together this little stand for my desk. I wasn't going for the most film accurate version, but rather something that captured the over all aesthetic of the scene. I also added the bricks that build up the walls and huts, just to kind of add more of the feel of the location.

It's funny, TFA is one of my lesser favorite Star Wars movies, but for some reason I've ended up both making a Diorama and set my photo-novel in that era. Life is funny. I hope y'all enjoy!

That looks great. The bricks really add to it. I'd want something like that for my desk.

I totally get what you say about making something from your least favourite movie. I find I spend more time that I otherwise would on things I am less interested in.

Sometimes though, one small detail is captivating enough, even if the rest isn't what tickles your fancy.

I just finished a Jeddah street scene with tank. It is some of my best work, but my heart wanted to finish either my Jabba Dio or Maz' Cantina. In terms of vehicles, I haven't even started the Void spider or Bubble speeder.

I figure it is still good practice.

I think also that immersing myself in that timeline gives me a bit more of an affection to it. Because even though I prefer other eras, there are things to love, and I want to shine a spotlight on them.

I've been really wanting to try building vehicles. It would be so cool to build a massive vehicle playset that doesn't cost 500 bucks (*cough* Hasbro).

I just had that conversation about the $800 Lego Falcon.
That $$ would get me a 3D printer, paper cutter and the materials to build a bookcase sized Death Star!

There are things to enjoy in all of the SW media (including the Holiday Special!). I focus on what brings me enjoyment.

If you haven't already, get a box and start filling it with "junk" you can use for dioramas or vehicles. Broken toys, pen parts...
You will be glad you did.

Good to see you active still. The mini diorama looks great.
