I read that the working title of the new live action series is "Star Wars: Glory of the Empire"

The word Glory sounds like it's more appropriate for a benevolent organization. How about simply "Rise of the Empire"?

I agree that Glory seems wrong but, you know that's how the victors propaganda would frame it, right. also I don't think Rise is appropriate because we've basically already seen the rise in eps 1-3, we are now talking about specifically the heydey of the Empire, right? so maybe it should be "Star Wars: Heydey of the Empire" (just kidding)

Haha, heydey ;)

How about "Rule of the Empire"... sounds boring, nah.

"Tyranny of the Empire", too suggestive.

"Galaxy Oppressed" bah.

I'll bet they come up with something really good, they pay people to sit around and come up with stuff like that :) Reminds me of a Simpsons episode.... "poochie ok with everybody?" :)

From AINTITCOOLNEWS.com

This news comes to us via the highly trusted Kuato, who has taken up a singularly unseemly residence on Harry’s belly. It was difficult to understand everything Kuato said…I couldn’t make out every word through so much slobber and rasping. I hate talking to Harry. I hate talking to Kuato; it's gnarly and it's a pain in the ass. But here, for your consideration, is part of what I gleaned:

We’ve previous been told the television series will be set between movie episodes III and IV, but we didn’t know much about what to expect beyond that. Kuato illuminated: we’ll get a little bit of everything in the show; the series very much embraces the broad scope of the STAR WARS universe. For example, we'll revisit Pod Races, and the characters and shenanigans/politics the events bring with them. Kuato said that one of the racer characters is someone we were actually introduced to a long, long time ago: his name is Thall Joben. This name sounded familiar to me, but I couldn’t quite place it. I looked him up. Turns out, we met him in episodes of the DROIDS animated series.

We’ll also see Rebel bases and Imperial Star Destroyers. Actually, Kuato believes Imperials will be everywhere in the new show - undercover operatives, Imperial Officers of all makes and ambitions, and nearly all of them will be afraid of Darth Vader.

There will be several instances in which characters are related to, or progenitors of, other characters in both the STAR WARS film universe & the franchise’s “Expanded Universeâ€

Rumors from over at jedidefender

With all the hoopla for The Clone Wars animated series, the Force Unleashed media blitz, and Indy IV, the upcoming Live-Action series seems to have been lost in the shuffle. Finally though, some new rumors have popped up. There is a possibility the show will air on either HBO or Showtime and be similar in format to the Sopranos or Deadwood, meaning it should be nice and dark.

sounds good. i don't have those cable channels, but like most others i would sure pick them up if the show ends up there. :)

In both the animated and live-action shows, the Jedi’s and the characters will act like what you’d see in the movies. And the reason for that? Both shows are going to be considered official cannon of the Star Wars universe. What happens on both shows would be like anything you’ve seen in any of the movies. That’s why Lucas is so involved, and that’s why it’s taken so much time to develop and get it right. This is also the reason why Warner Bros. can release a Clone Wars movie this summer, as the animated series is real Star Wars, so why not show it in theaters.

I'm also told there is a difference between the animated show and the live-action one. What I’m hearing is they are really trying to make Star Wars cool again. To do this, both shows are going to appeal to two different audiences. The animated show is definitely geared for kids, with the hope that adults will tune in. But, the live-action show is the one that us grownups are going to care about. While I’m still building my live-action story on what I’ve heard (and trust me, I’ve heard some things) as I type this article, Lucasfilm is hard at work developing the scripts and the stories for what will take place. So if I were to say exactly what I’ve heard and they changed it, I’d look like I didn’t know what I was talking about. Therefore I’ll wait a bit longer. Once I know for sure they’ll be filming certain things, I’ll post an update.

I'd rather it be called Dark Times.

How about Shadows of the Empire? Remember that comic or and I really like this one that I made up myself! :)

Eclipse of The Empire! or my second Rise of the Eclipse!!!! :D

Seems to suggest the coming of a shadow that falls over blocking the light from a sun, planet or moon but the cool thing is that just like the Empire an Eclipse doesn't last forever it just happens from time to time.

I'm really hoping that Lucas will focus this show towards fans of the OT. He stated in the last interview that he knows there are different Star Wars fans. Rumors like pod races being in the show have to much connection with the prequels for me. What happened to the show being about TIE fighter pilots and Rebel soldiers? In my mind the best way for the show to go would be to have different stories every week focusing on the background characters. It would almost be like the Star Wars tales books. This way we don't get bogged down with a few lame characters and just their story.

they could try to base it on a set of core characters like "firefly" but every few episodes show the point of view from a different group ie imperials, pirates, smugglers, organized crime, or just planet natives. Then bring it back around to the core group the next episode, or even have it as a series made up of several miniseries and a dozen of so recurring characters. look at deep space nine, farscape, babylon 5, and fire fly they all had decent story arcs but some were to drawn out so if it stays mini series size they can always wrap it back into the Empire vs Rebellion if the story looks to narrow

Hey guys, im action figure customizer and new mod over here.

I got to reading this thread a bit ago, honestly i hope they give it a nice mix, focus on underground scenes, such as criminal activity and slums of coruscant, maybe the podracers might AMAZING to see once more, citizens, smugglers and such choosing the rebel alliance, maybe focus on both aspects of EMPIRE & REBELLION also include Jedi and background characters that diserve to shed some light.

I can only hope this show will not dissapoint anyone, i can say the clone wars movie was not really good but the show has definetly improved dramatically...who knows if HBO picks it up WOHOOOOO!! We will be in for a treat!!
