A non-collector friend just brought over a Fett that he found on the pegs - now I have 2! I certainly only want one, so I'll have to trade the spare, though now I'm not sure which color pattern I prefer to keep - I still think the purple torso , though now I have the blue torso version, which is also cool...hmm. Anyone have a extra Vader sitting around?

Also, has anyone noticed the cardbacks are 2-ply? They seem a bit uneven or wavy - I'm sure it can probably be corrected with a starcase, but they look a bit off compared to TVC.

I've been trying to catch up on some of the OT Retro figures that I skipped, and recently picked up ESB Luke, Leia, and Lando. I lucked out, and was able to find them for MSRP or below - only need Han from the wave, and then I'll probably buy the ANH figures I didn't pick up (Han, Stormtrooper, & Vader). I once thought my OT purchases would be limited to the Kenner figures I don't have, but I'm thinking about getting one of each now, lol...it never ends. If anyone has spares for trade, LMK.

I was thinking of the retro figure today. I’d like to see some more “unreleased” designs. If they offered stuff like the RFT, Ceremony Luke, etc. I would definitely bite on those.

Still collecting Retro, but not seeing much at retail, unless you're after older figures, some of which are plentiful at Ollies for $4! I'm seeing random figures from the Ahsoka wave showing up at Target (nothing at WM), but it tends to only be one or two, lol. Today I lucked out and found Sabine, by herself, so figured I'd grab her, considering she's sold out online at some locations, and might continue to be HTF. Hoping to locate Chopper as well, but the rest of the wave can wait. I continue to enjoy this assortment, but I'm not paying full price for most of the new media releases anymore.

Another set looks to be on the horizon according to Jayson. Wonder what it'll be? Usually, each movie has had 12 figures, so maybe it's another TPM set? Or maybe it's a re-release of TESB in a 6-pack since they did that with ANH?

I stopped buying retro other than OT... sold off all my others cheap at a garage sale last summer just to get out from under them...

Saw tons of retro Ahsoka, Kenobi and Vader at Ross in December... and my local Target now has several of Ahsoka.

😉
OT coverage, whether unmade characters from the era, or Kenner reissues are my preference as well, but I've enjoyed a number of the new media releases too. That said, I'm no longer into spending $12+ per figure, especially when most get reduced, so I'll be waiting on sales. Some releases, like TPM, I'm just not into at all, so I'll probably ignore the PT offerings (especially if they're in 6-packs, forcing you to buy them all at once).

It seems to me that a lot of people are just straight up passing on these, or waiting for clearance. Not sure the Retro line will be around for all that long if interest doesn't pick up.

😉
I dunno, the last comment that a Hasbro rep made (that I'm aware of) about Retro was that they were doing well, even among casual fans, which seems to indicate that they're selling enough to be successful. The 5 POA figures also have a much more significant profit margin. If clearance is any indication, everything would be considered a failure, because TBS, TVC, Retro, etc all seem to hit discount outlets and go on sale online - not much of anything actually sells outs in the traditional sense anymore.

Great shot!

Retro is cool to me when they make unproduced OT characters, as I don’t really have any desire to buy existing vintage figures I have originals of. The Tarkin figure still stands out to me as a fantastic idea. They should make Rebel Fleet Troopers and other skipped characters as well.

I don’t really have a ton of interest in the new media vintage sculpts either. I’ve picked up the Mandos and a few others, but that’s it.

I feel like the sheer volume of seemingly endless pegs of retro at Ollies is a bad sign. And videos of them all over YouTube show it's widespread.

Ever since the Kenobi wave, primary retailers seem to have gotten very gun-shy on the Retro line.

Back to Ollie's though, the same can be said for Marvel Legends and TBS. TVC might pop up here and there or in limited quantities at places like Ross, but it's pretty limited overall.

That's not to say that TVC is doing wonderful either though. This economy has really taken a toll, plus Hasbro obviously had a rough 2023 given the recent mass layoffs they announced.

;)

I saw a bunch of figures at Ollies, but probably half of them were solid cases of Mando himself, so Hasbro clearly overproduced him because of the popularity of the series. There was also a mix of other solid cases, alongside Kenobi figures, etc. I agree that the Kenobi wave suffered at places like WM, it came out late, and demand was low, likely based on the reception of the series. I personally wish Retro would focus on the OT era, but that's another discussion. When it comes to discount outlet finds, TBS was the worst, as I found hundreds of them, and most are still there. TVC is a mixed bag, I've seen a number of them at various discount stores, but at least they tend to mostly sell out eventually, but I think a lot of them are going to the same customers, because of the insane amount of hoarding (and scalping) for TVC, so it's not likely widespread interest from a lot of other consumers. Economic issues and high prices are reducing interest for everything, I agree - it's even impacting my choices, as I feel Hasbro is recklessly overcharging, especially for TVC, another reason I like Retro as an alternative.

I think the only retro I’ve seen at my Ollie’s (that just opened), are the Armorer and Greef Karga. Having said that, retro really is holding the pegs down at nearly every Walmart around me. It’s a decent mix of figures, but they’re just not going anywhere.

Each store is different, the new Ahsoka wave has sold out at multiple retailers near me. There are pegwarmers in every line Hasbro offers, including TVC and TBS, so SA figures aren't immune, many are slow sellers, and the overall demand is lower than what Hasbro is producing, as you can find just about everything online, often times at a discount.

Found the Retro cloaked Fett from Book of Boba Fett at Ross, and for $4, had to buy one. This is actually my first SW purchase from that store, usually its picked clean! I rarely visit there, because it is such a dump, but I'm glad it resulted in a good find for once, lol.

I wish Hasbro would re-release the Empire Strikes Back sets like they did for ANH for those that missed out the first time.

I'm now a happy owner of the Retro ROTJ multipack, thanks to @YAK_Jayson offering it to me for cost + shipping! Forum members already know what Jayson does for the broader collecting community, but helping collectors in this way is next level. Just want to thank him again, as he's hooked up me and other collectors numerous times over the years.
