I picked up two of the Retro cloaked Fett from Ross this week - really, for the cloaks. Great for customs. :D

It's awesome to have a reissue of the Kenner Yakface, since it's not an original I would track down due to price. The patch is great, especially because I haven't been to major SW conventions / celebrations where you guys trade them. Much appreciated, Jayson.IMG_0462.jpg

Saw on the front page that Acolyte and PT boxed sets are shipping, and I have to say - I think it would be much more fun to explore actual retro content, from the OT, Ewok movies, Droids & Ewoks cartoons, and even the Holiday Special before going near Acolyte material, as that just feels like faux nostalgia. At least the Mandalorian feels quasi-OT, so they fit in better.

you can still find retro for 4.99 at another chain that hasn't carried any sw stuff for years.

deep down, we have to come to terms that star wars collecting as we knew of it, is dead. more & more are showing up at retail for anywhere between 60-80% off. people are actually waiting out Hasbro for stuff to be dumped at discount stores. if people really took the time to analyze the big scope of sw selling at retail, that ship has really sailed. until Hasbro say " we are making x amount of this figure" then there is don't much stuff out there being produced. and/or some of the characters should have been made in real small numbers or not all. Disney isn't helping in that way either. rebels & bad batch, seemed to be the only real avenue to making figures, as a whole, that are still viable in the retail market. same with the mando/bobf, to a smaller degree. Ashoka didn't due much for me. don't get me started with the acolyte. I grew up with sw in the theaters & collecting since 77. love the Lucas EU books. Disney has done to sw that the people who owned tru in the US, did. bleed it dry & there is really no so called "savior" in sight. if only Disney would allow George to come back in some form.

Retro figures at Ollies are $4, so I wonder if people will wait for them to get more stock, and shy away from Ross, since they nearly doubled the price. Ross stores only get a few figures at a time anyway, while Ollies gets full cases. I saw easily over 100 Retro figures on my last trip, and probably 250 TBS. As for the price increase, maybe it has pros and cons, we enjoyed the $4 figures (if you could find any), but maybe at $7, that will slow down the hoarders and resellers, so they might become more widely available to collectors.

Looks like Steve from Hasbro posted that Retro is shifting back to the OT going forward - great news! Here's the image someone posted on RS:

Spotted Fennec over the weekend at Ross, and they corrected the $7 price, when I asked why figures from the same assortment were $3.99 at the store.
I’d be down for more unmade OT figures. Rebel Fleet Troopers, Stormtrooper Han Solo, Sandtroopers just to name a few!

Recently picked up the BOBF Tusken - crazy how a repaint with new softgoods can result in such a great figure. I think it's even better because it's not something Hasbro is doing regularly with Retro, so it feels even more special to get an alternate Kenner paint scheme. Hard to believe that they haven't repainted the droids yet or turned Boba Fett into his Holiday Special appearance! Real missed opportunities.

Also bought the 4-LOM & Zuckuss set, though these weren't on my list of Retro figures to track down, because my Kenner originals are in good shape, but certainly not going to pass them up at Ross prices. Actually, bought two sets, so I could trade the extra if someone here needs it. Interestingly, both box tops were cut, wonder if that's part of why they were unloaded, or if they were intentionally damaged to be sent to a discount outlet as imperfect - anyone else encounter this?

LoL - I was wondering about the price difference as well, and I'm willing to bet the TBOBF figures may have come from a different source, at an increased price per unit, and Ross passed that along to the consumer. Nearly double the price is bonkers though, because I doubt that was the case on their end, so it could be mostly greed driving the increase, even if they had to pay slightly more in wholesale.

Getting back to Retro acquisitions, stopped by a Gamestop while out of town and spotted Morgan Elsbeth for half off, so I had to pick her up. Odd that the other Retro figures, even from the same wave weren't discounted. It's going to be a shame when this line shifts to only boxed sets, and these individual figures will no longer be available to purchase, especially on sale.
