With Hasbro's reveal yesterday, I'm pleasantly surprised with the softgoods ingenuity, and equally happy to be getting a new Leia figure. I'm all for Hasbro being creative, because these figures weren't produced in the 70s / 80s, so I'm fine with them reflecting slight upgrades, as if they were released post-ROTJ. The overall aesthetic is still Retro.
For those that want to check out the new reveals of Antilles & Wedge, and get some further insight into Retro from Chris:
Honestly, that's a pretty boring wave overall imo. We still need characters from the Sequels, Solo, and Skeleton Crew.
With the Kenner INT-4 and Desert Sail Skiff mini rigs likely appearing in the Mando movie (as live action vehicles), does that increase your interest in seeing mini rigs reissued in Retro? I'd certainly buy those instead of a larger ship / vehicle.
Given I never bought vintage versions of either, my immediate thought was to buy them before prices went up…
Figure images on the back of the cards, smaller stickers, and no more faux weathering - they actually listened to our requests. Kudos to Chris! With all those changes, I predict we'll see some OT repacks of existing Retro figures next year with the same updates. That'll give Hasbro the opportunity to resell everything on clean cards for the 50th, lol.
lol just said similar on disqus. The fake weathering never bothered me but I know a lot of folks hated it.

I recall someone saying they’d never be able to afford carded original 12 figures, so this was the only way they could have them. The fake damaged looking cardbacks was a deterrent because why would they want their set to look worn out?

This is supposed to be out tomorrow but looks like ANH #4 is listed as "backordered" on Target pre-orders, hopefully there isn't another issue like last year. I'm guessing it might just be a slight delay, so I'm remaining optimistic. 
So Hasbro has nearly 30 Retro figures on tap for 2027...
Something tells me this is how they are going to cover "all eras" of the films... and we'll see some actual sequel trilogy representation and "test fan interest" in that era some more that some time has passed.

- General Leia
- Rey with BB-8
- Finn
