The idea of "silver" sabers is ridiculous and makes no sense. You can't have "silver" colored light.

The light emitted from the lightsabers is white with a silvery quality. Like the moon's light, which is described as silvery. A lightsaber, like most things in Star Wars, requires a suspension of beliefs. So, if a lightsaber can exist, then a silver colored light can...

i got the obiwan and bail pack this last weekend mainly for the infant luke and leia. i wish i would of went ebay for the first issue. pink and blue blankets. :? oh well. better than nothing

as far as those new packs coming. i really can't wait for all those legacy guys. hopefully those rumors were true and we get more like nihl and krayt.

that lightside vader is pretty cool too. as many vaders as i have, and as much as i wanted to get away from repeat buying of the same characters, this light side vader and the one we get from the force unleashed are 2 of the coolest figures coming out this year.

I think more than anything, the sets I'm looking forward to the most are -

- Ventress & Skorr
- Durge & Anakin
- Xizor & Leia
- Trawn & Kardde

I'm starting to see more repacks finding their way into most of the other sets though, which I don't like to see.

Hmmm... I thought about this some more, and I'm actually starting to lose interest in this format... maybe it's the character selection lately, but I'm really not too excited about the last few sets of these... looking at what's out so far -

Carnor Jax & Kir Kanos (Crimson Empire) - never really cared for

Darth Vader & Rebel Officer (Marvel) - hate it

Governor Tarkin & Stormtrooper (Marvel) - hate it, sick of seeing them pegwarm

Chewbacca & Han Solo (Marvel) - decent

Luke Skywalker & R2-D2 (Marvel) - decent

Quinlan Vos & Vilmarh Grahrk (Republic) - pretty good - would be great if they had articulated knees

Obi-Wan Kenobi & ARC Trooper Alpha (Republic) - pretty good

A'sharad Hett & The Dark Woman (Clone Wars) - outstanding

Leia Organa & Darth Vader (Infinites) - decent

Mara Jade & Luke Skywalker (Heir to the Empire) - pretty good

Anakin Skywalker & Assassin Droid (Republic) - pretty good

Baron Fel & Derek "Hobbie" Klivian (X-Wing Rogue Squadron) - pretty good

Koffi Arana & Bultar Swan (Purge) - decent

Lt. Jundland & Deena Shan (Empire) - hate it, I want to burn each of those Lukes that I see... YUCK

Mouse & Basso in Disguise (Empire) - decent

Clone Commando & Super Battle Droid (Star Wars Tales) - decent

Obi-Wan Kenobi & Bail Organa (Revenge of the Sith) - decent

Boba Fett & RA-7 Droid (Marvel) - hate it

Commander Keller & Galactic Marine (Republic) - outstanding


So, looking at these as a whole, how many do I actually like a lot? Maybe 3-4 sets? I know we've seen some really nice looking sets coming up at least, but when I take a step back and view these sets as a whole, I'd grade these as perhaps a 'B' so far... which I suppose isn't that bad. But there's just been a lot of boring sets... even Mouse & Basso is pegwarming around here, which to me means the Stormtrooper market is getting pretty saturated... I think they need to start going with some more funky aliens with these sets. There's some nice sets still on tap for 2008, but several turds in the lineup too I'm afraid.

Thoughts?

I agree mostly with your assessment chewie... don't like the Purge one though.

remember this was the first real year of this format though... i think the upcoming ones will get much much better.

Thing is we got some nice new sculpts... cool comics, and two figures for less than the price of two individually carded ones... heck the Assassin droid is WAY cool!!! and i don't think hasbro would have made it outside this format....

i dunno, i really think will be getting better over the next year. the Legacy sets coming are going to ROCK!!!

Paulskywalker - In the comic, he's wearing the standard Stormie gloves. I think in the comic he complains that the gloves are too tight or something.

jedibyron - Good points all around... especially with the Assassin droid... that is a nice figure. I just hate the Anakin that came with it. Grrr... :lol:

What I'd like to see is less main characters thrown into these... but if a main character is thrown in, I'm ok with it if they're in a new outfit/something we don't see in the films. Except for that damn Jundland Luke. Man I hate that figure.

In addition, I really like the idea that they might start doing some video game characters from these... imagine the possibilities with Dark Forces characters... KOTOR, etc.

I really like the Tarkin because of his way cool green outfit, in fact I just snatched up a few of those on ebay for the pn I'm working on...

I'm disappointed in the Hobbie because of the wrapped head and I like unrecognizable alternate heads to use for customs. The Baron Fel is cool just for the pilot gear which I slapped on a couple of Death Star gunners to make my Tie pilots. I'm sure that sooner rather than later we'll be seeing a new Tie pilot anyway, maybe in next year's VOTC line.

A'sharad Hett & Quinlan Vos are both good but I don't need more than one of each and I'm not crazy about the horned dude or Dark Woman, in fact I already got rid of the latter.

I got the pilot Luke & Mara Jade, shoulda passed, oh well. Same with the Deena Shan and Luke, bah. Good fodder, I guess.

The best by far though is the Infinities Vader & Leia! Leia is fantastic custom fodder, and I *LOVE* Vader's cape, I want 18 of them I have two now.

Of the upcoming ones, the many many upcoming ones, even though I recognize how neat they are, I don't want any of them, not even the Darth Talon.

i like the comic packs. i would agree some of the ones that have come out like Boba Fett & RA-7 Droid and the upcomming dengar ones are kind of blah. I really like seeing figures we wouldn't see otherwise though.

I'm really looking forward to this years legacy comic packs. i love the character designs from this series. I'm hoping they continue with darth krayt, one of my favorite characters in all of starwars considering he is also A'sharad Hett. Darth nihl and wolf sazen would be a excellent addition as well.

oh heck yeah!! i'd be all OVER that if they did a KOTOR line or dark forces...

i mean both era's have comics out..... specially dark forces... and KOTOR has been getting some love this past year *still curses scalpers for never seeing revan or malak in the wild*

an old skool Mandalorian and that iktochi mechanic dude. Mission Vao...... (mmmmmission)

some cool stuff to be had there. Dark Forces could have some decent stuff... especially DF2 will all the dark Jedi and maybe a light side Katarn and a dark side version... cool cool.

I agree mostly, Chewie. I have a couple of those comic pack figures and most of them are mediocre at best. That's probably because Hasbro is either just repainting or rehashing existing figures (like the Royal Guards and the white commando) or seriously cutting some huge corners in the articulation department. I just received that RA-7 droid, but man, did I wish I'd checked the toyguide, because it has the same POAs as the vintage Death Star droid!!

Fortunately, it seems Hasbro is improving on these comic packs. Durge looks great, but I truly hope he's got it where it counts in terms of articulation.

I also agree Hasbro should make all new sculpts. As you know, I'm a huge fan of the TotJ series and there's a lot of potential there. An excellent opportunity for an Exar Kun/Massassi 2-pack, or a Ulic/Master Arca duo.

for the most part all the new CP stuff looks great. i don't like the cortoon colored old style marvel comics, but the new stuff is nuthing short of amazing! the leagacy stuff imparticular is realy cool, darth talon, skywalker and the imperial knights, just wow.......

cool character but i'm sure it will be kind of plain. i'm guessing it will look almost like the luke dressed like a imperial from the recent comic pack. so most likely he will come with an Amanin. hope it's not a straight repack of Amanaman, but that would work.
