Cheating, Chewie? Ah.... you can't win, ya know

War droids really does sound cool and it is something I think I should do. I was thinking of getting this figure as a base:

Anyone ever heard of this line of figures? It's called Maximo vs. Army of Zin and it's from Capcom.

That has to be the best use of a tripod from a droideka ever. The STAP I always though was a boring vehicle. But you were able to take the business end of the STAP and fuse it perfectly--absolutely believable, and the larger droideka scale just accentuated that.
Great work as always, Chewie--your customs inspire me.

Chewie, excellent work with this droid! Cool idea to use a different scale, but it blends so well having similar architecture of the Separatist droids. Nice paintjob to tie it together... What a great lead-off custom to start the month with!!

So, anyways, here's my entry for this month's War Droid theme (with a looooong backstory, with credit to wookieepedia.com for some fo the ideas)...

K-D Protector Unit

Hailing from the dark, dusty planet of Dorin, the K-D Protector Androids were created by the Kel Dor in preparation for war. Perhaps just by good fortune, or through the foresight of the force-sensitive Baran Do Sages, the droids were to become a mainstay in the Kel Dor system. Though war had not been on a major theatre in milleniums, the Kel Dor anticipated the need for extra protection when thousands of planets joined the Confederacy prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars.

In an arms race to reach military supremacy, the technologically advanced planet of Dorin first used the K-D units as homeland protectors. Though they were formidable in hand-to-hand combat, the Kel Dor believed that there was no glory in the mere killing of enemies. With a small army of droids, no heroes emerge, and victories were considered empty. The fully-automated droids were built with on-board kinetic energy convertors, thus, once issued served the military until it was destroyed or permanently relieved. Though not utilized in an official military role, "retirement" came in the form of personal protectors for the families of Kel Dor who had been killed in action during the war. It was considered a great honor to recieve the assistance of a K-D, and the droids were respected by many.

The volunteer-based Dorin army contained all able-bodied Kel Dors, thus leaving the planet largely under protection of the K-D's. Programmed and trained with the utmost schemes of defense as well as retreat; the elderly, women and children unquestionably obeyed the orders of the K-D series. Once the Clone Wars were in full swing, these droids became instrumental in saving the Kel Dor race during a small Separatist invasion. Unfortunately, Dorin was not prepared for the vast cost of the long war, and finally gave in to adding the droids to their army fronts.

A tragedy occured during the deployment of these droids when the 3 cruisers that carried them were sucked into one of the two black holes that bordered the space near Dorin. Though the Black Holes were seen as a security measure to limit access to the Dorin system by invaders, they also became a restrictor to incoming Republic relief ships. Nevertheless, the Kel Dor continued to fight on strong, with the help of the few remaining K-D Protectors who were re-deployed to active service.

Sorry for the novel, here's the pics:

Johnboy, great figure--a tragic character of a warrior droid. The robotics pieces on the legs are well-finished. But I especially like that disturbing cubist head. Shiny work!

Very interesting storyline you came up with to explain where this type of droid came from... really cool.

The custom itself is nice too, the head jumps out at me as being very different - I guess it's meant to represent the species of the Kel Dor, right? Also I like the use of the Bail Organa cloak, it looks like it was made for this robot.

It might also be cool to see one of these with some sort of weapon, perhaps killing a Separatist or something?

Here is my entry. Death at wholesale price.

H/K Droid, Model H.E. 01

Imperial Droids Inc. presents the latest in death and destruction...all at a low price!

The H.E. 01 is a highly self sufficient Hunter/Killer droid. Just turn it on and tell it who you want sucking the wrong end of a blaster and off it goes!
Programed with volumes of battle tactics, it can figure out for itself the best way to get rid of those pesky Rebels!
It's sleek, thin frame gives it a low profile, which makes it hard to hit as well as nearly invisible to most sensors!

Listen to what satisfied customers have to say!:
"Those damn Rebels are always trying to blow up my outpost. I bought a H.E. 01, set it to 'Destroy' and left it outside. I haven't had a problem since! In fact, I should be making Grand Moff next week, if my H.E. 01 takes out my...'compition'! Um...you guys aren't going to print that last part are you?" ---Moff Akin
