Horsehead, did you use the McQuarrie concept R2 for part of it? That's one of the most realistic astromech customs I've seen. I can imagine astromech pitbulls patroling the perimeter of an Imperial stockade, like a nasty junkyard dog! Nice work!

Well, I got a little over-ambitious on this one, and ended up with 6 droids. Painting is my weakness though, and I'll be happy to have 2 of them finished by the deadline.

I'm having a really hard time coming up with color choices for the rest. I've got one that's a rusty-red color, one that's primarily black, but now I'm drawing a blank on what colors to go with on the others.

Chewie, any chance you could share some pointers on droid painting? I especially liked the color scheme and technique on the one you did that had the Concept Art 3PO bodie and magna guard head.

Oh well, the entries so far are looking very creative. Hope I get mine in before the deadline to share with everyone.

Thanks! And good eye... I forgot to post the recipe...

Dome and legs - McR2
Body - Portion of a Moisture Vaporator that came with the TAC Luke

I would like to redo the paint job though... oh well.

Picked one of these up on clearance a while back, was'nt real sure what to do with it, thought it might make a good super-super battle droid?

Yeah, Scribble, that's a serious battle droid, like the Geonosians finally decided, "Hey, let's make a battle droid that REALLY battles and doesn't speak with a cartoon voice!"

Salesman whispering to a junior by the Aqua dispenser:
“They say the ACD has been cursed since the concept stages and manufacture; apparently their have been numerous reports of major faults out in the field and it has on occasion been blamed for battles being lostâ€

Dude, I totally know how you feel to not live up to your own expectations on a custom while under a time crunch. There have been a few times I wish I could have done just a bit more but didn't have the time or the resources in time, or it broke and I had to jimmy-fix it.

On this occasion, however, YOU ARE OVERWORRYING!!

That is a frickin' awesome War Droid. It is original, as far as it isn't just a new mod on an existing type of Battle Droid. I was disappointed in mine being little more than a Hasbro slap-together (Hey, they might hire me now) and I tried to hide that with some wanna-be dazzling photography. Your droid is far more interesting to me.

You have an excellent battle scene going on, and the droid looks good. The "visible damage" just makes the droid look more "battle-realistic" to me. It's not fresh out of the package, it has seen some action.

Don't forget the great backstory you made up. The "blamed for losing battles" part, that was the best part. Made it more real for me.

TOTALLY AWESOME!!!

This is now officially my favorite this month. Don't get me wrong, there are many great entries this month. This one just does it for me.

Way to go, dude. I can't say enough how much I like that one. It just kinda reached out and grabbed me.

Thanks! Quite surprised. The "Jimmy fix it" thing was funny.

Durring the Clone Wars the paranoid leader of the Techno Union, Wat Tambor, had two specialized droids created to use as his bodyguards. These modular droids could be fitted with a variety of armements. Wat being a paticularly sadistic being preferred them fitted with pike like appendages, so he could enjoy seeing his enemies or business rivals impaled. When the newly ordaned Darth Vader was confronted by these droids on Mustufar he made short work of them by using the Force and tossing them off a cliff into a river of Molten Lava.

Here is my latest Order66Customs project. LMK what you think.

The Clone Wars have seen the Republic make use of their overwhelming numbers to swarm enemy positions, they have overrun the limited defenses offered by the standard complement of battle droids and droideka. In response, the Techo Union has introduced a formidable opponent for these infantry swarms... the nightmarish Super Droideka:

Super_Droideka_1.jpg

With a battery of over battle cannons and under grenade launchers per wing, and a pair of ultra powerful blasters below another battery of battle cannons -- the Republic army's effectiveness has seen drastic decline, as they suffer several orders of magnitude of casualties more than before. A direct assault with infantry is suicidal as clones who approach these killing machines are slaughtered on the battlefield.

Super_Droideka_2.jpg

The Super Droideka is shielded and impervious to standard hand held blasters, only heavy artillery can penetrate the shield and destroy the Super Droideka.

Upon single-handedly amassing 3,000 clone casualties at the raid of Ahamo, this one came to be known as .... the beast of Ahamo.

Well, here are 2 of the 6 I put together this month. I'm having a hard time coming up with paint job on the rest. I was going through all the droid looking parts I have, and I just kept having more ideas to use up all those pieces that have built up over the years. I knew I wanted to do a group of droids with a shared history.

Basically, they're all droids who had original functions that weren't directly related with combat. Either through reprogramming, or avoiding memory wipes long enough to develop distinct personalities, or even by accident, they all end up with combat based specialties. They're on the run, as most of their original owners want them back, and various corporations would like to figure out how they broke their programming. Corny as it may sound, they're like a droid version of the A-Team.

First up:
d3m0droid.jpg

D3-M0 is the only member of the group that was created for military purposes. His original intention was to clear mines and explosives from a battlefield to clear the way for other troops. After time, the droid started to develop a taste for explosions, and by the time he joined up with the rest of the fugitive droids, he was an expert in demolitions.

D3-M0 was the first one I put together for the project, and was made from odds and ends I had left over from Gundams I used for other projects. His shape is loosely based on the "head-crabs" from Half-Life.

Next:
vrc4droid.jpg

Originally a video-feed unit for the Holonet, VRC-4 now acts as the group's spy and scout. He's able to directly transmit to each member of the group, giving them all a birds-eye view of the battle field in real time. Equipped with a wide array of sensors, he's able to "see" in many different spectrums. Having severed himself from the long-range connection to the Holonet, VRC-4's transmitting now has a limited range.

VRC-4 was made from a GI Joe sigma six 2.5" BAT figure with claws from a medical droid. The original figure had very limited articulation, so I cut it up, turned it upside down, and gave it the new hands.

EDIT:
Okay, here's the group shot:

Please, I'd love to hear suggestions for color schemes for the three with ???'s and the Engineer. The ???'s need names too!

Left to right:
(back) SS-N8, heavy weapons (this was one I did a long time ago, but I loved how he came out and I thought he fit in great with the group)

(front, the little one) ???, NEEDS NAME AND PAINT SCHEME he needs a name. He's a KOTOR-era generator droid, used as a portable power supply. His new function is to supply "ammo" for the larger droids that put out a lot of firepower.

(back, the tall one) ???, NEEDS NAME AND PAINT SCHEME. I'm considering going all white on this one. he's the group's sniper. a very, very long time ago he was a protocol unit.

(front, "the engineer") NEEDS PAINT SCHEME. An ancient droid. he was built to calculate and design perfect droids. his advanced processor, however, quickly reached a point of near-sentience, and he decided the best way to complete his task was to improve himself. he has upgraded his form numerous times, moving from body to body. currently, he inhabits the shell of a bounty-hunter droid. he is responsible for the reprogramming of some of the group's other members.

(back VRC-4) See above info

(front ???) NEEDS NAME AND PAINT SCHEME. Those aren't arm cannons, they're impact hammers. He was originally a construction droid, intended to clear large amounts of rubble quickly. He's now the group's heavy melee hitter.

(back D3-M0) see above info

Please. I'd love to hear suggestions on names for the unnamed ones, and paint schemes too.

T8-H6 Tactical Hunter Prototype

Shortly After The Creation of the Galactic Empire Governor Tarkin Come up With the idea to use a droid to Capture The Wookiees and Other types of Slaves The Empire would need to construct the Deathstar. His theory of Building a Droid Hunter Unit Was Based in the Thought That the Citizens of the Empire would assume that a rogue cell of The Separatist Movement was Behind The Manufacture of the Droid.
T8-H6 Was the First Prototype Built. Deployed on the Plant Kashyyyk mere Weeks after the end of the clone wars. T8’s mission was to capture As Many Wookiees as it could. In a Battle with Salporin, Who Damaged T8-H6’s Transmitter with his ryyk blade Cutting off Contact With T8-H6’s Imperial Controller. The Imperial Army Sent a Trooper Scout Party The Find And Return The Prototype But The Droid Was Never Found, Thought To Be Lost in the Kashyyyk Lower Levels. The Program & Designers Were Terminated by Tarkin fearing that Imperial Involvement would be discovered if the droid was ever found. Years Later a Wookiee Bounty Hunter named Tyrral Going through a time Mourning over the loss of his partner Came Across T8-H6 In The middle Levels of Kashyyyk With a tree branch Stuck in T8-H6’s Chest. Tyrral Repaired And Reprogrammed T8-H6 To Be His Partner And Friend. After he was repaired T8 Took to Using a Nickname of Tate. Once Grand Moff Tarkin Heard of This Wookiee Bounty Hunter and His Hunter droid Partner He Dispatched Discreetly Several under cover Operatives To Apprehend and destroy Tate. The Operatives found Tate and Tyrral on Tiss'sharl in the Outer rim Tipped off by Colleague Tate and Tyrral killed the operatives. Fortunately for them this was the only time the Imperial Operatives Would be In pursuit of Tate. When The Grand Moff Was Killed During the Battle of The First Deathstar at Yavin 4. The secret of The Tactical Hunter Program Died with Him.
