I had a few crazy ideas for this one, unfortunately school and Guitar Hero III have kept me from being crafty with figures at all this month.

Oh well, maybe November...

NICE ENTRIES EVERYONE!!!

Hawkeye, some of us might have to consider you a "youngin'" as well. Considering you batched a couple Sammy Hagar songs in there. My Van Halen fandom didn't include Hagar. :)

Seriously, that's an awesome paintjob. I did the same paint scheme on my skateboard in 1985 and it was hyper tedious. How in the world did you do it on that scale?

Nice work.

Ha! Great entry Shayford, I've always been a fan of your work. It's never easy coming up with humor that's actually funny when the subject is Star Wars, but you've always been able to do that. And of top of that, your image work is top notch... I can't even imagine what kind of quality you could amaze people with if you ever started up a photonovel series. Thanks for sharing that fantastic Halloween diorama with us. :)

Justin, thank you so much for the kind words. I always feel that I'm probably the only one laughing at my stuff. That's why I try to do a lot of detail in the diorama. I figure if the humor falls flat, someone will appreciate the diorama, and if that falls short, maybe someone will at least appreciate the light or photo itself. My own little three-tier failure prevention plan. :)

Regarding photonovels. . . I actually did make a 15-page comic book prototype of a Boba Fett story a few years ago. It was meant to be dark and edgy, but it had a lot of problems.

Here are a couple sample shots:

However, the exercise did get me interested in the comic book format which influenced my shift into humor. Since then I've been doing a lot of comic strip type stuff. So, in a way, I'm doing lighthearted "photonovels."

Thanks,
Stephen

Stephen, those are great images... you have an amazing ability to create dioramas and capture the "reality" in a digital photo. I'd love to hear any tips you have!

Hahahaah!

Congrats! You are the first one to have pointed that out!

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice that!

You are a true wonder, Mr. Shayford. I remember seeing your Mos Eisley diorama on NiubNiub years ago and being instantly impressed. The mix of your photography skills with the dioramas is superb. I can't get over your use of lighting and depth of field.
