My entry is a Melodie. She is loosely based on the pic on the Essential Guide to Planets drawing.

DSC00374.jpg

Parts:
Head:Juno Eclipse
Torso:Saga 2 Alaya Secura
Arms:Ayy Vida
Tail:Dolphin figure

The base she is attached to is a cast of the base that came with Alaya Secura in the Saga 2 with the vines from a GI Joe DVD pack. A Styrene tube fits in her back to keep her suspended.

2 more extremely well made yet simple entries, applause for both of you

I like the dolphin tail, sorta random but I guess anything is possible in star wars

the mon cal was very bland but i liked it like that

Wow folks, talk about some awesome entries! We didn't have quite the high participation we usually have, but the work submitted was easily some of the best that I think we've seen.

I know I owe most of you reviews still, but I didn't want to hold up the wrapup...

Well done guys all of you deserve a prize for these customs, they all look excellent.

I hate to say this but I did have a fav and it didnt win, that was the Female Nautolan, so I would like to say a special well done to Dan as well, but I am pleased that my next fav come through which was John Boys work. I like the way John Boy showed us how even the Attatix can be used in customs as well.

I received an email from someone asking why the winner had also won a recent contest. The answer is simple - the winners are selected randomly each month. Outside of myself (and staff members at Yakface are not eligible to win), there were only 6 people that entered this month.

So anyone's chances of winning this month were 1:6 chance. So that's pretty good odds for everyone when there's a lower number of contestants.

Anyways, all the entries this month were great! I really liked what we saw this month... very creative work folks!

Tonphanan - I really liked this entry. It had a greek feel to it as well, which in my book is always cool as I've always been interested in ancient mythology. I'm guessing you sculted the lower half of her. Looks fantastic.

Ars30 - I like that a lot! Always a fan of Mon Cals, and the color scheme on this guy is really cool. It's a great compliment to the parts uses as well. And the maroon/purple skin tone makes this guy really stand out. Awesome.

Incom - This is without a doubt one of the coolest Aqualish I've ever seen. I love the green head! Ha! Always a pleasure seeing your work, and seeing how you've continued to get even better.

darth_sidious - Again, a nice clean, crisp custom which seems to have become a stable for you. I really like the Pablo Jill species and it's nice to see another version of them.

DanOfTheDead - I have to admit that your entry was my favorite this month. Something about her is very exotic, and just hard to take your eyes off it. Amazing work. I can't believe how amazing this looks. I think Hasbro needs to make a female Nautolan now for sure.

johnboy walton - Each time you enter these you come up with something unique and entertaining. Both of these Mon Cals look fantastic and are very creative. I love the female, in fact I just ordered some of the Attacktix Ackbars on ebay now. Heh.

Tonphanan - You deserve kudos just for trying such an obscure species. I'd have like to see some more angles of the tail, but from what I see you did a good job of merging the parts together well. It looks like this was a full re-paint for the skin tone on all the parts? Good job, that's something I've yet to master.

Ars30 - My first reaction is that this is a simple but effective custom, but that just doesn't do it any justice. For one, it the paint looks factory made, very smooth. All your parts fit together great, and the color choice was another very different but very cool color choice for a Mon Cal.

I think what we lacked in volume of entries this round was more than made up for in quality of everyone's work... at least in my opinion. I'm pretty proud of the one I submitted, and everyone's feedback really means a lot!

Congrats to johnboy!

Hey everyone, thanks for the kind words on my two Mon Cals... It was fun putting these two together, and nice to participate this month.

I have to agree, even though there might have been a smaller turnout, I think that the quality on these entries are collectively, the best that I've seen in a long while. Between the parts selection - some more simple, or complex, the sculpting which is amazing, and then the fine paint work to set them all off deserves a hand.

Tophanon - I was in Tampa over the holiday weekend, and think I missed both yours and ARS30's entries. Melodie is a great piece. While I can't remember specifically the picture you used for reference, it seems really familiar. The Ayy Vida torso, very lithe and slim works well for this 'mermaid' kind of look. The Juno head also works well, with the 'slicked' back hair really gives a smooth, watery feel to her. Very nice work with combining the fish tail with her torso, looks like it's be hard to accomplish, but the final result is seamless. Great job!

ARS30 - Allen, I really like your take on a Mon Cal spacer. Gives off the casual space attire look, without going overboard. The dark indigo color of Kameis, really gives another take on the spectrum of tones that Mon Cals could be. I've really opened up to having more colors since Chewie's light blue version, then followed by Darth Sidious' green Jedi.... I think I've been too cautious on following the reddish tones, so the originality on all three should be commended! While I would agree that the outfit seems a bit reserved, that fits right into Star Wars, as many characters were not too flamboyant.... they looked realistic, with everyday clothes, even though they may have been an exotic fish man. LOL Good job on this one!

Desfiy - -- I think that I can resonate your feelings on Dan's Nautolan... I think a lot of us feel that that is one of the best customs to come along in a long while. I know I do!! From the paint work to the incredible blending of the head and face, it is not only one the best to come through the yakfinities contest, but one of the most impressive customs I've seen in several years. So kudos to Dan again for such a nice custom!

Well like Desfiy (Me, yup Desfiy has a new name and its Coookieemonster) said these are some of the better customs I have seen for a long time excluding the old hands (like that show off chewie, sheesh you know you would think he would drop the ball a couple of times, "Oh Hi Chewie was just saying how great your customs look"), its a breath of fresh air when you see customs like this and not another 100 clone customs (I think clones have been done to death, mandalorians look like there next).

I really had trouble choosing which ones I thought were better after Dan's Nautolan, I think what made me choose John Boy was the fact that he used something I dont think anyone else has, I refer to the Attatix Ackbar Head, like Chewie said "I am looking to get me some of those as well", now my third choice would have been Ton's because he did something no one else did, he tried for a harder custom, and that in itself is amazing, he tried to do something that there wasnt any real ready parts for, plus I did ask if anyone was going to do a Melodie, lol.
