You're right on the recipe. The head is a cast. The body is a 25th Scarlet with some heavy mods to the shoulder, neck line, gloves, and crotch. It still retains all it's articulation. The skirt is from the Trash Compactor Leia, then smoothed into the Scarlet body with Sculpey.

Awesome custom of Guri - that one is defintiely my favorite so far. Question for you on Sculpey - do you actually bake it? I picked some up from a craft store, but have been a little worried about how to actually cook it to harden. Won't the plastic melt? Could you boil it instead?

Here's my first entry.

I don't really like the new Comic Pack version of Xizor, and for that matter thought he would look better in less "royal" looking fatigues. So here's an alternative look for him.

011409xizor.jpg

head - Legacy Prince Xizor
robe - ROTS Bail Organa
torso - Legacy Bail Organa
arms - Legacy Bail Organa
hands - Legacy Prince Xizor
tunic - Legacy Bail Organa
legs - Legacy Bail Organa

Not sure what else I'll make for this - definitely a thug or two, and possibly Guri using Delaton's version for inspiration.

I bake mine at 175 to 200 degrees for about 20-30 minutes. The only time I had something melt was when I tried the same temp. in a toaster oven on bake. You can also boil the clay to cure it, although I've never tried it.

I always boil my sculpty. A small pan (That you plan to NEVER cook in again) Bring the water to boil and place the item in. Thickness and amount plays a part in how long to boil. Get some tongs and check the item as it boils. Pull it out, if the piece feels hard it's done if not place it back in. Thin items like tentacles and spikes have a tendency to come off the peice when they boil. I like to boils those seperatly then attach to my peice. Small pieces only need about 30 seconds. The key is to be at a full boil.

Hope this helps.

I've had good results baking and boiling. I've never tried baking Sculpey that is actually sculpted ONTO a figure, because I've always assumed that the plastic would melt. Those are the pieces that I boil.

Here's the link to the second of my submissions:

Happy customizing!

I'm so glad I followed that link. First, because they're great submissions to the project. But secondly, because I think I use to follow your old website religiously for updates.

http://dnjcustoms.blogspot.com/2008/10/ ... enary.html especially is a long time favorite of mine, among many others. I distinctly remember your old web site as being one that would really inspire me to try to come up with some original "fanfic" designs. If I'm remembering the right site, you also had a really good (especially for the time) design and layout that was way beyond what most people had for displaying their stuff.

It was one of those sites that I lost track of when I lost all my bookmarks once, and was recently trying desperately to remember what it was called to see if you were still customizing.

Anyway, I hadn't made the connection that was YOUR site. Sorry to gush, but it's just one of those things where I checked the site so often seeing the pictures distinctly reminds me of a particular time and place, and I really got a kick out of seeing them again.

The Kyle Katarn / Dark Trooper mini-dio is another one I remember flipping out about when I first saw it. I keep thinking maybe I'm mistaken about the site, then I'll remember a little detail (like, oh, his endor bunker display had a little walkway infront with a railing) and then I'll double check and there it is.

It's making me think about who's work I'll remember that strongly in another 10 years, as the trend in forum posts rather than site galleries doesn't have the same repeated viewing of a specific person's work associated with a specific looking website.

Chewie's work, for example, if very influential to me currently, but I always see his stuff in the forum, in separate threads, so there's not a single memory association of all his work displayed together. It's one of those things that's just gone away as the web has developed, for the most part, and I really kind of miss it.

Oh well, sorry to go off on a tangent. Some interesting stuff turning up so far... my house is being worked on (finally, we had damage from Hurricane Ike) for the next month so I might be able to get anything in this round. I've got a few ideas though, so we'll see.

Dan,

I'm glad to hear it! I've become quite a fan of your work, as well. I recently read a similar post from CoookieeMonster over at the FFURG Forums. Seems that he remembers the old site, too. The one piece that more people remember than any other is the Yoda's Summer Vacation cinema scene that my wife made (maybe I'll have to post that one at the new site). The only reason I got motivated to move was that AOL eliminated their web hosting service, so I had to find a new home. Having to re-post figures that I made nearly 10 years ago was kind of like a trip down (custom) memory lane...

There does seem to be quite a trend toward posting stuff at forums rather than sites. I have come to enjoy posting at the forums, but I always make sure to post everything to my site first.

Now if only I could figure out why my images don't show up here...

Oh yeah, I remember you too now!! Your Millennium Falcon custom was the reason why I customized my old POTF2 MF!! Awesome stuff.

I originally had these figures as part of a post=Jabba gang concept but they seem to fit pretty well with the Black Sun idea, so here they are:

Ellib - Weequay Guard

Oh my, those are some wicked entries, Delaton. Your paint apps really come out great on these figures. Good blending of different lines of action figure parts too.

Here's my entry, which is in fact my very first NPKB! It's a Black Sun crime lord. I'll paint him later on, but as a NPKB I thought he looked cool enough already

Goodness sakes Delaton, that's some amazing stuff! All of those really do seem like Black Sun agents... they all look like very shady characters. I think the Ellib Weequay is my favorite of the bunch, looks like a real tough brute.

I find Mela Car to also be a very interesting looking character, talk about finding a fantastic use for those trash compactor Leia arms. :)

Incom, I also like your entry, that one doesn't need any painting at all like you said.

Long time listener, first time caller here. I've been checking out this Yakfinities thing every month, and I keep saying I'm going to make something, I'm going to make something... and then I never do. However, this month I decided to give it a shot. Here's my progress thus far.

I really like this image of Savan, Prince Xizor's niece:
250px-Savan.jpg

And since it fits in with the theme for the month, I started on my version today. Technically, she's naked at this point, so if you're under 18, don't look at these photos :D

So it's not much, but I think it's a decent start. I used an Aurra Sing head as a base, sculpted on a ridge on the forehead, larger brows and cheekbones, then base coated dark green, black wash, light green drybrush. Highlighted lips with purple, and the eyes are also purple (as per Wookiepedia's listing).

I'm not crazy about the eyes, so I may redo them.
