Just too many issues on the TVC one for my liking!

^ To me, the B.A.D. concept on the left blows the TVC version out of the water... it's not even close in my eyes! :)

Just for fun, I threw this on our FB page... curious to see how it turns out. I know there's support for both.

Here is another entry for this yakfinites. I made this PLNK (Refueling) Droid. This custom droid has a bunch of parts that can magnetically be attached and removed from it. I finished this droid in time for this yakfinities #50.
Many more pics of this droid including work in progress pics of it can be seen in my photobucket page here:
http://s798.photobucket.com/user/I-AM-BOBA-FETT/library/Custom Droids?sort=3&page=1

Most droids develop personalities if their droidbrains aren't wiped routinely. This droid is no exception.
PLNK Droid PD-13OS-CR-1DA3-GR-CH
This one nicknamed "Oscar" hates to be cleaned and is somewhat of a little grouch. When he is left dirty he operates at peak efficiency. When he is cleaned he breaks down. Some of the Rebel Technicians came up with a little poem about "Oscar" and it goes like this:

Oscar malfunctions when he's clean
When he's dirty he operates without a hitch
So he's never even wiped down
and he functions without a twitch

Nice work guys, that PLNK droid is amazing, Boba!
I agree with you chewie, I was never a fan of the TVC 3PO, maybe if it were painted in a gold and not that awful shade of yellow.

The yellow tint is pretty ugly on the TVC 3-PO, but I think it's the sculpt that bothers me more than anything else. It just doesn't hold up in the aesthetic quality next to the B.A.D. sculpt in my opinion. I also think the removable plates, while fun, also take away from the overall look of him... I think ideally, Hasbro would have also given the B.A.D. sculpt the C-3PO treatment - then I wouldn't even complain about the TVC one because a better option would be available.

Speaking of the yellow tint, I believe we're getting a similar paint tone on the upcoming Mission Series C-3PO.

Yakfinities #50 - THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY - 2nd Entry

Jerimyah Calwell is a moisture farmer on Tatooine. He was in Mos Eisley the day Ben, Luke, and the droids came to the cantina. Kenobi saved Calwell's life when he was attacked by Tuskens. If not for Ben, Jerimyah claims he would have lost more than his leg.

BACKSTORY
It was early morning. I was checking on a group of vaporators to the south. I am usually pretty aware of my surroundings, but I had the audio-net turned up in my speeder listening to some music. All of the sudden a group of Tuskens came out of nowhere. It was a small group of ‘em, a total of six. When I laid eyes on the first one, I ran toward my speeder. I got between my speeder and a rock formation for cover, drew my blaster and got ready for a fight. One of them fired first. The windshield of my speeder shattered when it was struck by a slug. I snapped off one shot and one fell. I squeezed off another round and down went a second. What I didn’t know is that even though initially saw six of ‘em there was a seventh scoundrel ridin’ on a bantha. He came from my right and steered the big animal right in to my speeder. I tried to move, but wasn’t fast enough. My leg was pinned between the rock and the speeder. The Tusken on the bantha slid out of his saddle and the five of them surrounded my speeder. Gaffi sticks raised, I thought it was over. I had dropped my blaster and couldn’t reach it. I closed my eyes tight and raised my arms hoping in some way they would save me from being killed. Then the air was filled with a loud shrill. It was a Krayt Dragon. If things were bad before, they just got increasingly worse. Those savages were looking in every direction as they ran off, but I was relieved for only a second. I heard movement from behind the rocks and my heart nearly stopped. I knew I was about to be dragon food. Once again, I closed my eyes tightly holding my breath. Readying myself to meet death.

[Male Voice] – Hello there? It looks as if your party is over. All your guests seem to be running home.

I slowly opened my eyes and exhaled in relief.

[Jerimyah Calwell] – Ben Kenobi! What are you doing out here you old wizard?

Ben grinned through his white beard.

[Kenobi] – I was out taking a morning stroll through the desert when I heard your little party. I saw that a bit of a ruckus had begun and thought I could help sort things out.

[Calwell] – Oh, that. It seems they didn’t like my taste in music. I wanted to listen to the “Screaming Jawas” and they wanted to hear “The Palpatones.”

[Kenobi] – Oh. I would have to agree with you, the “Screaming Jawas” are definitely the better group. However, I have always preferred the “Space Monkeys” myself.

We both laughed and then wave of pain washed over me. It was my leg.

[Calwell] - Ben, I think I could use a hand.

[Kenobi] – Yes, well, we better get you to a doctor.

Kenobi some how moved the speeder that had me pinned to the rock and the lifted me in to the speeder. The next thing I knew he was driving me to the doctor over in Anchorhead. I was in and out of consciousness all the way to there. We barely got in the door and I totally blacked out. From what the doctor told me, old Ben stayed right there with me until I was stabilized. Yeah, if it weren’t for that crazy old wizard, I would have lost more than my leg that day.

When we get done loading the supplies we will head over to Chalmun's. I’ll introduce you guys to Ben. Drinks are on me!

Enjoy!

^ Kinda reminds me of Hershel Green, from The Walking Dead (TV) lol

OK, so this is not a custom figure, but i had a few extra figs lying around so i decided to do a "what if hasbro continued tlc-2 line" series. 0riginally I was going to make a snowspeeder Wedge, but i can wait for hasbro's official release in a few months so i started w/ snowspeeder Luke for this recard idea. The BAD parts that I plan to fill the bubbles will be the extra death star droid from the target 3 pack I have. Whether or not these will qualify for the contest, I want to share them anyway. It's still in mock up/photoshop stage until payday when I can get a new ink cartrdge, but at least here's the concept:

0h, what this line could've been......

I agree that the BAD sculpt is awesome. For me, it's the protruding plates that extend off the outer thigh that make this stand out. The TVC version is too streamlined around the hips and lower torso, which doesn't really match the on-screen look.

Even though I would like to see a B.A.D. repaint, both figure fall short. The TVC figure does look great when posed correctly. Also the the stomach area is much more accurate to the film costume as well as it's overall proportions. However, it suffers from some pretty big issues. The removable panels (although a neat concept) ruin some of the look, especially the head. His eyes look small and deep set, not the bright eyed interpreter droid we all love. The paint is another issue, it should be a closer match to the color of the mock-up I made. The final big issue is his height! I think a lot of this issue comes from his legs, which seem much to short.

The B.A.D. sculpt has some great parts. The head sculpt is PERFECT! It's also the right height and as JediMerc mentioned the hips jut out like the film version of the suit. However it to has some bits that bug me. The overall lower chest and stomach area is really off also his legs seem far to wide and thick in general.

In conclusion we need a 3P0 that has the positive merits of both!

Bib Fortuna:

I went a shopping to pull this one together. He is built from the Episode I federation Dolfine...DuhDeeDuhduh guy as the base as he comes with a super articualted body and robes. I removed the overcoat part leaving just the body, lower robe and sleeves. I chopped off his hands past the joint fixtures and popped off the head. Then from ebay I bought a 83 Bib Fortuna for his armor/pad and a 95 Bib fortuna for this head and hands. I dremelled out the wrist cuffs so that they would heat up and aslide over the stumps created and hot glued in place. The overcoat si a Jedi knight robe with the sleeves cut off with a rotary cutter.

There you have it... our fishygibberish creepy doorman.. Bib Fortuna. He is accompanied by none other than a Bright White Sensorscope R2 and an unfinished custom C-3PO from WAAAYYYYY back.. (not to be considered and only present for contextual purposes)

Wow - I love it!!! Great work on Bib, those soft goods are fantastic! What a blend of parts too!

Do you mind telling us a bit about the diorama wall used for the photos? I find that most interesting!

Surely. Those are FlixTrix? Half pipes made for bicycles in that Tech Deck scale of skateboards. The originally came with guard rails so I take those off but they are slanted so the won't sit side by side... Solution?... A 6-9 placement if you will for lack of better vocabulary though tastefully hyphenated. Once they are placed top to top head to toe they are perfectly square and make for great passage ways/tunnels and sewers. I bagged a whole rack of them on clearance for $2.50 each a couple years back. They're pretty versatile really.

I've got other shots using them to create walls for Jabba's palace.

(More pictures to come)

Jabba's Throne Room
Return of the Jedi

Using several of those Flix Trix and Tech Deck ramps, parks and displays I have made one shelf dedicated to Jabba's Palace... Hence the need for my Bib Fortuna. Aside from a C-3PO and Boba Fett I've got in other displays, we're nearly there.

The two outer columns are built using those same Flix Trix ditch parts with the guard rails removed. The back wall is another VERY unique Tech Deck piece that I do not know the name of but its very curvy and perfect for adding some shape to this display.

That small bit of arc you see behind Jabba's throne is the rim from a Tech Deck swimming pool. I cut it off of the pool with a hacksaw. For a while I still had the remnant of the pool inside but it takes up too much backspace.

The Trap Door is made from a wrought iron fence also from Tech Deck. It does a nice job of keeping the throne from wobbling too much and giving just a little more stage room.

Bespin Final Duel:
Empire Strikes Back

This is a piece I put together from several parts. The base mounted to the wall is the base from one of the 25th Anniversary more static figure 2-packs. The "Plank: you could call it is made up of both parts of the Millenium Falcon Gunner stations m minus the seat. That makes for a plank, base and some kind of footing around the edges.
Of course the center post/antennae is a Moisture Farm piece from the earlier Luke release from a few years back.

It mounts directly to the inside of my book case and juts out over a larger display space I have going so its got a little suspense to it I guess you could say.

Here is another entry that I have finished. Here are Brea and Senni Tonnika, also known as THE TONNIKA SISTERS.
These ladies were seen in the cantina scene. The heads seen on these figures are plastic cast heads made by me.
