Here are two figures that I just made for my 4 year old nephew. He was watching Ewoks: The Battle for Endor about 3-4 times a day for weeks on end. My sister wanted to kill me.

For his last birthday, we gave him the entire Star Wars video library complete with all the films, the Clone Wars TV episodes, and the old Ewok movies that were made for television when I was a little kid.

When we visited his house this summer, we brought him the new Wicket action figure from the Vintage collection and the Ewok Battle Pack that was exclusive to Toys R' Us. While we were visiting for the week, my nephew saw us make custom action figures for the blog and was really impressed with our ability to make our own toys. So much so, that he asked if we could make him a Noa and a Cindel for Christmas. Before we left that week, I ordered a Teek action figure to be mailed to his house, and told him to keep an eye on the mailbox around Christmas time. When we returned home, I started to acquire the fodder we needed to complete his request. When I started to obtain the fodder, I bought double of everything so that I could make a set for our collection too.

Since time was limited, we only had the chance to make this first set for my nephew, but once the New Year rolls around, we'll most likely make the second set for the home collection as well. This project was a lot of fun because it was a real team effort between me and Elias. To create the action figures, we modified an Anakin Skywalker from Episode I to create the Cindel Towani, and we used a Willrow Hood body and a Henry Jones head from the "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" toy line to make the Noa Briqualon action figure. I worked on the head sculpts and the soft goods, while Elias worked on creating Noa's staff and painting the figures. I really liked the way that they both came out and I can't wait to add these two characters to Elias' collection now that I know what needs to be done. Elias' favorite part of this project was using the Dremel for the first time to sand a wooden chopstick into Noa's staff. It was his first time working with the tool and he said it was a lot of fun to use.

I hope my nephew enjoys the new toys that we made for him and even more importantly that his dog doesn't eat them. Let us know what you think.

The ultimate OT customizing challenge demands the ultimate Farmboy Luke. Mine's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction.

Based on the Death Star Escape Luke Skywalker figure, I've made a number of upgrades. I had to ditch the weird head sculpt (and I don't like the painted face of the Resurgence Luke) and the too-short legs. The new head is from TVC Bespin Luke. (I agonized over which non-painted Luke head would work the best, and I'm really pleased with how good the Bespin Luke head works when the hair is re-painted!) I carved out the belt from the plastic skirt on Resurgence Luke, and added the lower tunic from Death Star Escape Luke. The upper legs are from Endor Capture Luke, so they're still ball-jointed at the hips, but they add some additional height (I'll post some pics along with Resurgence Luke for height comparison). And I gave him some new, better hands from the parts bin.

I'd still like to add a real hook to the belt so I can hang a lightsaber hilt from it, but I haven't figured out a good way to do that yet...

***Edit (1/4/14): I ran out of time to make any additional changes to Luke, or to finish the Bespin Lando I was hoping to enter into this contest, but I did manage to take three additional pictures of my Luke - most importantly, a comparison shot showing my Luke next to Hasbro's most modern offerings.

Here's another blink and you'll miss Cantina Patron. I'm working on a few more of the background humans from this scene as well. The Corellian Pirate is seated to the left of the bar near the entrance. Who could forget that 70's stache.

Here's two more barely visible human patrons from the Cantina. These where fun to do, as there is very little reference to their outfits. It gave me some room to fill in the blanks of what these extras wore and use my imagination.

localgov_zpsf7de2c3e.jpg

First is a Bald human going by the designation of Local Bureaucrat. He can be seen briefly when Luke is thrown into his table during the scuffle with the Dr. and his Walrus friend. He can also be spotted in the background when Han is leaving the Cantina. He appears to be wearing some sort of dark tunic. I made the tunic a dark olive color and gave him Tarkin's belt since he's a Bureaucrat and would logically have some imperial ties. Not the most exciting character, but I really want to finish all of the Cantina extras.

Ugly Human (can you imagine reading that on your call sheet) is only visible in the B&W alternate cut. He's seen conversing with a Saurin. Of note is his cool jacket with nifty studded sleeves. More to come, my goal is to finish all of the Cantina patrons. :D

If those were action figures, I'd buy several of each. Wow... make sure you save some for your Concept Series!

Haha, thanks Chewie glad you like these backgrounders too! I'm putting these obscure guys that have very little chance being made up here. I'll have to make a thread of just Cantina patrons once I finish them all over on the Concept forum for posterity sake.

I finally got what I needed to update my Boba Fett from a couple of pages ago. I broke down and got the viewfinder that I needed to finish the custom as I just wasn't happy with the lego parts I used on the previous one. This is my final entry for the Boba Fett.

I took the Bespin 3 pack Fett's helmet and hollowed it out, and then added the viewfinder from the VC09 ROTJ Fett. To fix the backpack, I used the Bespin 3 pack Fett's backpack as well and did some black paint wash on it to dirty it up.

I'm almost finished with an OTC custom candidate.
What are your rules for participation?
I started gutting the fodder in early September, just a few weeks before I heard about your OTC contest, but didn't begin construction until late October. Do you have a strict policy regarding only customs started after the announcement of a contest?
I've only commented once on Yakface. Do I need a minimum number of comments?
Am I allowed to show of my custom on other websites before the end of the contest?

Here's a link to the basic Yakfinities rules.

Basically, we just ask that your custom be something NEW, and OT related, and that you made it for this contest... and post the pics by December 31. You can post your pics everywhere you want.

Thank you YAK Chewie. Very helpful. :)

Forgot to post this little guy back when I posted my PLNK droid. Here is a Vintage Power Droid that I updated with a more modern faceplate and added an internal power cable that can be pulled out to power up vehicles, droids, etc.

Here's two more Background Humans from the Cantina. Both of these "farmer" extras can be spotted behind Obi-Wan after he dispatches Dr. Evazan and Walrusman.

Local Mutant has no official name, the extra seems to have a weird prosthetic nose similar to Dannik Jerriko.

Nice figures. I'd never realized John Kerry was an extra in the cantina scene!
