Yakfinities #59 - Voting is complete. The winning theme is Maz Kanata's Pirates - we'll broaden that a bit and call it Takodana Denizens.

Entries accepted through March 31.

OK, to start off with, I have no inside knowledge of Episode VII. I'm only speculating. That said... I have a feeling Han Solo dies in this movie. If that's the case, wouldn't it be great to have a Han Solo-themed customizing challenge? It could either be for different variants of Han Solo, or customs that use a Han Solo figure as a base.

Of course, if Han doesn't die in Episode VII, we could always change it to to whichever major character does die. Because I'm sure somebody will.

If it is going to be TFA themed, shouldn't the voting be done AFTER the movie comes out and we've seen it?

I like the ideas of doing Mashups (Smurf Vader)
- taking a non-SW figure and making into a SW one (Mogwi Jedi). The stranger the better, but the finished character should fit in with SW figures. I don't mean repainting a Hello Kitty like Darth Maul.
-EU characters would be fun too! I'm think of really EU (Adidas commercial, Pepsi alien, Weird Al videos, Richard Pryor SW sketch).
-PUNS!!! Yakface = vomit face, Darth Mall.
-Unproduced characters or concept characters

The mashup theme sounds super cool. Krogan sith, Turian jedi from mass effect, Mario mechanic, Orc Troopers, Minotaur Mandalorians, Wolverine as a gray knight (perhaps yellow knight  ) with lightsaber claws, the possibilities are endless.

We can always do TFA next time.
Many of the above choices could have TFA characters anyway so I don't think it matters.
I vote "don't wait" but I'm good either way.

I'd rather wait until after the movie comes out, though it may not matter, it's supposedly sold out for the first two weeks here, just crazy. So probably won't end up seeing it beforehand anyway, but would still prefer the chance when two off the bat are TFA themed though. Right now I don't support TFA at all, and it better be EXTREMELY good for Star Wars to get back on my good side, if not I'll stick to my EU books (the true Star Wars).

Since the contest runs Jan-March, I'm not too worried about choosing TFA, but I personally like a broader (not movie specific) theme anyway.

How about we revisit custom creatures (from our last round of voting), as I remember that did well in the voting.

I would be fine with waiting until post-TFA to have the vote for what it's worth.

For TFA designs, "castle" denizens might end up being a fun one.

I'm also cool with the creatures idea. Has Yakfinities ever done a custom vehicle set?

My last idea is pilots. It could be pretty broad - everything from military pilots to pirate pilots.
