Decided to join the fun. And on a hunch has started working on the Tuanul Village Invasion by the First Order on Jakku.

Here's what things look like so far...

The stand down between Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren with the primitive structures and the central evaporator (or whatever this huge thing is).

And the Atmospheric Assault Lander (AAL), well at least the front section of the dropship. Fully operational with battery-powered sets of LED and opening front ramp with functional "hydraulic" struts. :)

All of these made from scracth using foamcore, cardboard and a lot of patience. :)

Still a lot to do to have it completed to what I envisioned this project, but I doubt I'll be able to complete this in the next few day, as my wife is currently undergoing chemo-radiotherapy to get rid of a cervix cancer. So my time is now devoted to support her through this tough time, as well as take care of our 4 daughters as well as try to do my job through all this. Not the easiest time of year to say the least... :/

Well that is all kinds of cool! I like what you did with the dropship. The interior is very detailed and it is nice and compact. The lighting is amazing!

I'm sorry to hear about your wife. Hang in there. I know it is really hard. I'm glad to see you are taking so time for yourself though. You need to to stay sane.

I've watched my wife go through cancer twice, both times with really low chances. She's in remission now and past the 2 year mark (when it was most likely to return).

It is really hard to have to watch and I can't even imagine what it must be like to have to do with 4 kids! Feel free to PM me if you ever need to vent or talk. I know "supportive people" sometimes don't get it.

Thanks! I've done that dio out of a hunch over the past two weekends. Basically had a vision of the dropship and decided to do half of it, the front section with the opening ramp, to display my FO troopers. Always like that scene, for me it's iconic of the new movie, and this massacre scene on Jakku gives the tone of the cruelty of the First order, a new empire much more evil than was the OT Empire. Killing all those innocent villagers was something I really did not expected in E7, especially knowing Disney was involved. I couldn't imagined that we'd see efficient and deadly Troopers after being given the soft Stormtroopers in the OT.

Anyway, I did half the ship due to space constraint on my shelves, but will probably end up doing the entire ship in the very near future. :p

Thanks for your nice words and sharing your own personal experience. It's a good thing your wife has succeeded in getting rid of this bad disease! I'm pretty sure my wife will do the same, her chances are very good as the tumor is localized and not spreaded. I'm quite positive that she'll go through and we'll get past this cancer for good. It's obviously been very difficult for the past few weeks; having to wait 4 weeks before getting the final results was a very anxious wait. And with the kids, it's certainly not an easy task for me, but we have very kind friends and family, they've been very supportive, more than we anticipated. It's truly wonderful to know we're not alone and that friends are there for you. :)

Hey, thanks for your thoughts and words!

For the background, I've been having fun using the Kenner-style box art lately for my most of my Instagram pictures. Always loved this simple monochromatic background art. Very simple and efficient. I have reproduced some of the ships and playsets SW Kenner Box art on my account. Just search for JediPatrick on IG and you'll find me. :)

Hey All,
It's been great to see all the creative dioramas. Good job to everyone. Due to significant time constraints, I have not been able to build a dio. for this contest, even though I fully planned to participate. So... Bummer for me, kudos to you all. I hope to jump back in for this next contest.

JediPatrick - sorry to hear about the cancer woes. My sympathies to your family.

That is an AMAZING TFA diorama!!!!! And a sore reminder Hasbro didn't make a Troop Transport too!

Here is my third and (presumably) final entry: a rebel base!

Spoilers apply to my newest photonovel chapter!

I also made a super long hall, and a control room for the next chapter, but for whatever reason I can't edit those pictures. >< Usually my images are 960X640, but after the last update they're now a super weird size. I'll update this post if I can manage to fix them this evening. It's always something.

heres a simple one i tossed together, I want to update it with a better backdrop BUT it gives you an idea what you can do with those big clunky starkiller base hunks. it is an actual shelf so once im happy with my finished work it will have a place on the wall.

That's too bad. Hopefully next time. What was your dio going to be?

I'd like to thank you for being the only person to actually comment on any of my dioramas. I appreciated it.

Thanks! My wife was handling her treatment very nicely this week, last week was a real nightmare as she was feeling tired all week long. But today, she had a very bad case of nausea, so I guess she had a 5-6 days of break. The mix of radiotherapy and chemotherapy is very tough for most patients. :/

But when it seems things couldn't go worse, they did yesterday morning: I lost my job. LOL Got fired due to a restructuration. I was the only income in the family, so it'll be tough. At least I received a compensation package, it will help go through the next 4-5 months, but past that I'll really need to start looking for a new job now...

When I saw the first teaser for Rogue One, I've focused on the scene where the captured Rebel pilots are led through the marketplace. Here's my interpretation.

Had fun with this competition. Once it's over, I will post some pix of other dioramas I've created.

Nice job on the trailer scene OC.

Sorry to hear about the job as well JediPatrick - when it rains, it pours (at least sometimes) - as the saying goes. Will pray for your family during this time.

Utinniii, thanks for the response. I am working on an archaeological dig site and on a forest environment. I will still get them done some day, just not in the next little while (will probably have to wait until after Christmas).

LOL Yeah, I know. I'll be back on my feet in no time, no worry. It's just a little funny that everything happens at the same time. My wife and I (really) laughed at it. Reaching the bottom can only mean one thing: the next move is to go up. That's the optimistic in me talking. Now I need to put my Jedi act together and start being mindful of the here and now. :p

I've been there. The next couple of years might be rough, but it will get better. You also have an awesome positive attitude.

Nice marketplace! You now have a great place to display the next figures.
