I really like the looks of the repainted Freeco speeder! I think the blacked out cockpit makes it look so much better. The speeder was always a neat design, but I was never a huge fan of the big clear cockpit. Nice blast damage effects on the body too!

Due to the nature of the theme, we let the rules bend a little more than usual and allowed for larger vehicles to be included... which really added to the variety. This was a fun contest and thank you everyone for taking part!

Without further delay, here are the submissions... hope I didn't miss anyone!

With regards to bending the rules a bit, we voted for vehicles/mini rigs. I was somewhat surprised that it became simply mini rigs. Otherwise I would have built a Sandcrawler or possibly voted for something else.

Going forward, the topics we vote for should be exactly what the final topic is. That will stave off confusion or frustration.

I think the confusion was that it was noted "vehicles/mini-rigs" rather than "mini-rig vehicles." The intent with even using the word "vehicle" in it at all was the make it clear that it wasn't creatures, like the vintage Wampa, which I know a couple of local guys that consider him part of the original mini-rig lineup. So, the way I always took this was for it to be mini-rigs, hence the promo pic:

To me, it was clear but I can see now why there was some confusion perhaps due to my own communication, and I'm sorry. I also apologize if you are frustrated, I only do these to help make the hobby more enjoyable and encourage customizing and customizer interaction. The majority of the prizes come out of my own pocket because I want to show appreciation to the people who take part in these.

At the end of the day, if anyone is upset by any part of this process, I truly am sorry and am not doing what I've set out to do - which is promote this part of the hobby and bring people who like customizing together for fun and inspiration.

It's all good. All the choices have great possibilities and really, we only "need" one submission.
From our end, the first 2 suggestions were V &MR and V/MR so I always thought they were both. I'm assuming others took it the same way.

(This is why I always advocate a broad choice as over half the submissions were Vehicles).

EDIT: Vehicles (Class 1 (speeders), Class 2 (Starships). Mini-rigs: small 1 person vessel (Rig = built). I'm basing this on the Hasbro classification.
They also use beast (tauntauns and Wampas)

I guess I'm not understanding totally, buy weren't ALL the submissions vehicles?

I see (from my perspective) at least 20 entries that I'd classify as a mini rig... to me, anything landspeeder-esque size or smaller truly fits into that.

It's subjective though... and some of the entries were quite big so if we were stricter we would not allow it..... at least in the next theme, we shouldn't run into this!!

Moving forward, will try and make it more clear. I think we've had a good track record after 65 of these that most of the time we avoid confusion.

Oh, and that's definitely the biggest "min-rig" I've ever seen. LOL

I am absolutely blown away by the staggering creativity and craftsmanship on display with these entries.

Wow. Every single person who entered deserves a round of applause. I honestly thought a "mini rig" contest was a tricky idea, since - to me, at least - making custom vehicles is a hugely daunting prospect.

But, seriously, bravo everyone for your extraordinary work. Looking at these creations has been an absolute delight.
