Krokrer's Log entry 115
The Unknown Regions continue to amaze and delight the both of us. We have catalogued hundreds of new species of flora and fauna and even fungi. Reepta is in the lead for discovering truly unique species, but with her multiple degrees in exobiology, that stands to reason.
We’ve discovered a small planetoid with many lifeforms but nothing larger than a scurrier. Surprisingly, fish and avians seem to be the dominant life forms. There also isn’t anything growing larger than shrubs. Perhaps the surface will reveal why.
There also seems to be the remains of a settlement but it looks very old. We are both excited to see what secrets this place has to offer.
116
Landing seemed to disturb a nest of some rodent-like creatures that reminded me of Profogs, but without the armored shell and much smaller claws. They have six legs and are hairless. The vibrations of our landing drove them from their nests. They quickly scurried into shadows. I don’t think they like sunlight. We shall see tonight if they are nocturnal. We will take a quick look around before we set up camp.
117
Fiery plains of Ryloth! We weren’t gone more than five minutes and the creatures nearly destroyed our ship. They have extremely strong teeth that can chew through metal like flimsiplast. From under the shadow of our vessel, they chewed through the landing legs and bore several holes into our ship. I remotely electrified the exterior of the hull and that got rid of most of them. The rest I gassed as one nearly took my head off the moment I entered the ship. Reepta can study the remains after we set up the perimeter fence. They should keep them away from our ship while I patch it up. I think we should sleep inside tonight, that is if I can’t get the ship spaceworthy enough to get off this rock.
Food is now a problem as our stores have been decimated by the vermin. They even got into my secret stashes!
They must have an extremely good sense of smell because most of our specimens were also eaten. It is astonishing how quickly these creatures did so much damage in so little time.
No wonder life forms are scarce on this planetoid. I hope (and I hate to say this,) that we killed off most of them. If a dozen can do this much damage, imagine what hundreds could do.
118
We’ve been working non-stop to patch up the Drunken Mynok but there is still much to do. We’ve been working on the exterior and will finish everything else in orbit.
I’m glad we have an expensive radiating security fence without seams at the pylons as these creatures would eat whatever they could touch.
Our fence seems to be discouraging them but we can hear digging under them even though they were placed on solid rock! Reepta thinks they can sense vibrations so they will know where our defenses are weakest.
All the bodies we threw outside the fence are missing. They seem to eat anything they can find.
I’ve sent an SOS but have no hope that anything will hear us any time soon. I have given up on the exterior and am working on repairing the damage to the shields.
119
The shields seem to be holding but I don’t know for how long.
The creatures have burrowed under our perimeter fence in many places, and they are wily enough to avoid our lasers now that they know what they can do.
I’ve modified the SOS to warn people not to land. Should anyone come in time to help us, we will launch our escape pod and they can get us from the air.
120
We had to use the escape pod once the shields failed. They tore through the ship as if it was like one of the reed boats of home. We will stay in orbit as long as we can and then try to land somewhere else. I’m worried since one of the thrusters has gone off line. Stang! Several more systems have also just crashed and the lifeform scan is showing tha-
Reepta: X-Men Toad arms and legs, Fisher Price? Jungle woman body, custom head and accessories.
Krokrer : X-Men Toad body, Battle Droid backpack, custom head and accessories.
Rodent of unusual appetite. Pig with custom head and extra legs. (I may have to repaint the color so it looks less pig like.)
This was based on a D&D creature, the Osquip.
Perimeter Fence: Modified BAW parts repainted.
Drunken Mynock: Repainted to look like a rust bucket with random dish and gun added.
