Original Post:
Hey all - I'm a little late in starting this thread, so we'll need to get on it quick. Let's see a few ideas for the next Yakfinities, which will run April 1 - June 30 - and in a few days, we'll start the voting phase.

Here's a few ideas to get some concepts going going:

Rebel Militia
Sith Loyalists
Jedi Outcasts
Ancient Droids
First Order Troops

Think dockmasters, mechanics, technicians, customs officers, flight attendants, droid wranglers, security officers, merchants, BoSS personnel, deck officers, low ranking enlisted people, etc.

Characters like Amy Sedaris' character from "The Mandalorian"

Or Torynn Farr. Or the jobs the cast members do at Galaxy's Edge or Star Tours.

Now that's a figure I'd pay good money for!

Of the previous suggestions, and past ones, I like:

Open Season
Medics
Entertainers/Musicians
Ancient Droids
Gladiators/ Warriors/ Arena Fighters/ Boxers
Priests/Monks/Force Acolytes/Missionaries, etc.

I'm going to chime in again to plug Ancient droids. This could be an easy theme for everybody. Many droid figures are cheap to obtain for people, and might be a good theme for beginner customizers. Old astromech/R2-D2s and battle droid figures for example are easy to find.

Too bad Open Season didn't make it this time. With the way everything is shutting down (schools, sporting events, etc), we might have tons of time to make customs in the next month or so.

Sorry, I didn't see a lot of suggestions for it this time...
I thought I saw a couple requests for Open Season and Entertainers (more than some of the ones that made the list). I never saw the Palpatine idea suggested, so I was surprised to even see it on the list. Did someone PM that one?

it's never easy deciding what to put in the grouping.
I understand and the task is made harder since you're limited to 10 entries in polls, so if a lot of people submit various ideas, it's hard to limit them. I guess that's why I had suggested the Open Season last time. Anything goes and we can cross some of those ideas off.

Another idea: perhaps have the runner-up(s) from the previous couple Yakfinites should have an automatic bid in the following Ideas Phases?

I usually throw a wild card idea in for the voting. A couple of those have won the voting in the past. I dropped Entertainers this time - it got zero votes the last time, and just one vote the time before. That's why I left it off. Not that it's not a cool theme, it just hadn't received votes lately. I did add the Force Acolytes idea that I think you came up with.

I've actually pondered ending them altogether to be honest and seriously considered ending it with #75. They are a bit of a hassle, and I have gotten suggestions or complaints after the fact on what the options are. One particular via email that I assume is a forum member. On top of that, the roundups are time consuming, the prizes are out of my own pocket, and I've even received complaints on what the prizes are and who the random winners are... and if course, the shipping time. sigh.

I will try and do better. Been doing these for almost 15 years. Kinda crazy.

Shame anyone has the nerve to actually complain - they should be participating simply because its fun. No other fellow collector has done more for the customizing community than Chewie. As I've said before, without Yakface, I doubt I'd be customizing much anymore. I hope you know that many of us appreciate all you've done over the years.

As for ideas, everyone should browse the list of previous challenges to see what's been done before, so we have new options to vote on for each challenge. Likewise, I jokingly suggested combining ideas, but you could actually have dual themes for some challenges that might be obscure choices, and it would allow some to have their top choice in the mix so they aren't grumpy, hehe.
