Chewie, you've been doing an amazing job.

I vote that from this contest going forward, there is no prize. Sharing with our peers should be enough.

I will also continue to do group shots to make your life easier. I'd be OK if the roundup ended as well, especially since it takes time away from your photonovel and customizing time.

Finally, if this contest were to end, I suggest we end it in December so we can send it off with a bang. I suggest "unfinished customs" for that one.

Yes. Strange to see a "wildcard" (un-suggested) idea when other suggestions were ignored...

This is far from the first time we've gotten a "wild card". I'm not sure what the big deal is. Most of us have had ideas that either weren't chosen or didn't get any votes. If you like a suggestion, then keep making it.

I'm sure everybody can think of at least one submission for all the above categories if not 3-5. Heck, if droids wins, make it the possession of a medic or Force Acolyte and make that figure as well.

This contest is about having fun and being part of a community.

Having Yakfinities has been a blessing to many of us. This showcase has challenged me to think and work outside of my "comfort zone," and has made me a better customizer. I don't need a prize. The prize here is being able to showcase (show-off) and get reactions from our peers. I appreciate all the work Yak_Chewie puts in to keeping this going. Not every category that has won has been interesting to me, but I've ended up making something I liked for most of the challenges. And seeing others' works is always fun!

The categories proposed (I don't care how they are selected...I'm not running the show) are always varied and interesting. That adds to the fun! Thanks, Yak_Chewie, for providing this unique quarterly exercise for those who love to customize, a starting point for newcomers, and a great gallery to view through!

I usually throw a wild card idea in for the voting. A couple of those have won the voting in the past. I dropped Entertainers this time - it got zero votes the last time, and just one vote the time before. That's why I left it off. Not that it's not a cool theme, it just hadn't received votes lately. I did add the Force Acolytes idea that I think you came up with.

I've actually pondered ending them altogether to be honest and seriously considered ending it with #75. They are a bit of a hassle, and I have gotten suggestions or complaints after the fact on what the options are. One particular via email that I assume is a forum member. On top of that, the roundups are time consuming, the prizes are out of my own pocket, and I've even received complaints on what the prizes are and who the random winners are... and if course, the shipping time. sigh.

I will try and do better. Been doing these for almost 15 years. Kinda crazy.

:upside down:

Shame anyone has the nerve to actually complain - they should be participating simply because its fun. No other fellow collector has done more for the customizing community than Chewie. As I've said before, without Yakface, I doubt I'd be customizing much anymore. I hope you know that many of us appreciate all you've done over the years.

As for ideas, everyone should browse the list of previous challenges to see what's been done before, so we have new options to vote on for each challenge. Likewise, I jokingly suggested combining ideas, but you could actually have dual themes for some challenges that might be obscure choices, and it would allow some to have their top choice in the mix so they aren't grumpy, hehe.

I appreciate that, and would hope that you do keep making some customs when the day finally comes that these come to a close. Any "complaints" have been mostly like "Why did you have such great giveaway from Yak #XYZ but not this time? I don't need any of the figures that you have as the giveaway - can you substitute something else?" - that kind of thing. I have honored it a couple times when I could. I've also gotten, "Why don't you show the prizes beforehand? That way I will know if it's worth creating a custom for." That doesn't come from our "regulars" though. And I have had some from emails that didn't want to identify themselves. But that is certainly okay. It's more suggestions that complaints, by a long shot.

Anyways, without people like you, these things would not be happening. It definitely takes some good people to participate to make these worthwhile. I know with various social media customizing groups, it can be an inconvenience to even interact in the forums.

I have done that quite often over the years by throwing in a new idea at the end if I thought it might be one that could be popular, but had not thought of it before. Some of those have even won the voting before. It's not to disparage any of the other suggestions. But if people are upset over it, I'll make sure to not do it again. And I also do get that some people want a certain category to win, as inspiration to make a custom they have been wanting to make. It is not easy to please everyone, unfortunately. But I definitely never intend for these to upset anyone. If they do, then that is very discouraging to me.

Appreciate that - I will continue to do the prizes as long as I am able to. Out of the 75 of these, I've fronted about 70 of the prizes, which comes to be on average, 3 figures - so I've given away in the range of 200 figures for these over the years out of pocket. And that is fine - I'm doing that because I want to.

And those group shots are so much appreciated, thank you so much for doing those. It makes the larger roundups much more feasible on me. But, I will still work on the roundups - and appreciate you thinking of my time on this, that means the world to me. Thank you!

Thank you, and you make so many cool customs pretty much every time we do one of these. I don't know how you do it! And yeah, there's been a few themes win that I feel a little clueless on what to make. But each time, I've found something to make. I still have to post mine for Yak #75 - got a few things I am working on, but they are not finished just yet.

Chewie: You have done a wonderful job of creating a platform for us to show off our creativity and abilities! Like others have mentioned, your hard work is greatly appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed! Heck, the entire reason I tried my hand at customizing is because of Yakfinities! It will be 3 years this April when Yakfinities #64 Tribal Aliens was selected and I started down the customizing path by making a bunch of ewoks! It has been a wonderful experience and I've learned a lot since then! Again, thank you for all you have done!

I just want to chime in and say you're doing a great job with the Yakfinities. Like others have mentioned, I joined the Forums here because of a Yakfinities. Tatooine Residents was my very first one. For the most part, the choices have been great. Some of them I didn't care for but as an adult I didn't bad mouth you, I just didn't enter anything for that round and waited until the next one.

I have to agree with Utinniii, if you have to end it, let's finish out the year. That, or make #77 the last one in honor of Star Wars original release date.

I also agree with everyone that recognition beats out prizes. A question though; what about the prize being a custom of yours instead of a new figure? I'm not sure if you repurpose them or not but a Chewie custom would be a great prize. I'm not talking about the ones for your photonovel, some of the ones you've made for Yakfinities.

Being relatively new to the customizing game (and on and off since I've been too busy lately with life (as you know)), I did not realize you did wild cards. And that's why I was confused and asked about it. Thanks for the explanation!

Totally understand... and I know how busy your life is ATM. It is cool that you are committed to Yakfinites and I think it's an aspect of Yakface that brings in traffic that other sites don't have. Plus, it's interesting to see other people's ideas and customs... but you've got to do what's best for you with what little free time you have. If that means ending it on your end (maybe someone else would take up the reins?), so be it. But it seems a lot of people are doing the challenges for the love of the hobby not the incentive of a prize. Plus, to complain about a prize (that's free and out of your good will) is pretty sad. You choose at random... if a person doesn't like the choices offered, then they should waive their turn, not complain. And while it's cool, prizes are another aspect of Yakfinites that consumes your free time with buying, packing and shipping. And I think group shots is the way to go with multiple entries... just to save you time.

I hope you didn't take my comments the wrong way (don't think you did from recent texts), I was just curious about how things worked. Perhaps it opened a healthy dialogue with members to show how we appreciate what you do for on Yakface and maybe a rethink on how to do Yakfinites that's easier for you?

Thanks, really appreciate that and I always love your customs. I don't think there's anything in the hobby that I enjoy more than customizing and seeing people's work. Especially while the hobby is in lulls, it's great to be able to keep things fresh with our own new figures. And how has it already been 3 years since Tribal Aliens was that theme? Time flies...

So very nice of you, thank you and I do feel that in a way, Yakfinities and customizing is the lifeblood of the forums here. Our forums have never taken off like I hoped in terms of regular hobby discussions, and where it does, it seems to be the customizers who take part.

I don't intend to end these really anytime soon, but #77 is an interesting idea if we did.

A Chewie custom? LOL - maybe, I'm not sure which ones would be good (for some reason, I have a hard time parting with some of the better ones, and the worse ones I'm too embarrassed by), but that is an interesting idea. I do think at the very least, we need to do the Christmas Custom Exchange again this year. Those are a lot of fun.

All good, no worries in the least. You weren't the only one wondering about the "wild card" option, and after this thread, someone sent me an email on it too - not a forum member, just a lurker. We have quite a few lurkers, I wish they would sign up and chat on our boards. :)

The Roundups are pretty time consuming for sure... for a while, DanoftheDead managed a few of the photo compiles and posted the winners - which was cool. After a few of those, he did step down due to the time commitment, which was totally understandable.

Free Army of Naboo After the rise of the Galactic Empire, Emperor Palpatine had a garrison built on Naboo. With the Imperial facility in place, the monarchy was dissolved and the Royal forces disbanded. Many accepted the new way but others didn't. At first, it was just small bands of individuals resisting the Imperials. It was until Commander Aranda brought the groups together and contacted the Rebellion for support that FAN actually became a recognized threat to the Empire. Here are some of the key members
L-R Captain Gorf, Sgt. Kilde, Captain Vonde, Daven Jorrek, R5-Z4 (a.k.a. Zephyr) and Clang

I'll add my appreciation to have an outlet to post my customs other than Facebook and something to help me avoid creative block by making themes. And of course the prizes that's always a nice treat. :)
I'm excited for this one as well! I just finished a custom Taidu Sefla just before this contest started haha so I'll finish up some more rebels to post for this one!

Just dropped to say thanks for the Yakfinities and to show my appreciation for you efforts, Chewie. I don't always have the possibility to participate, but it's always fun to see people's ideas on a given theme, and as someone mentioned, it makes me think outside the box. Some of the most creative customs I've made were inspired by these contests, and some of the most amazing customs I've seen were here.
Also, Yakface is the site that pushed my customizing onward and here I found the most wonderful and friendly communty of talented people.
So, Rebel militia it is, gotta think of something :)

Yu-Hurra is a Rebel communications officer. He is the nephew of Admiral Raddus, and made his way up the ranks up to and after the Battle of Endor. He is an expert in translating, encryption and decryption. Yu-Hurra is also a tech wiz, and can over-ride, hotwire, and reprogram most anything. He can also help with programming a universal remote, or changing your password and PIN for any site. And of course, Yu-Hurra can open hailing frequencies like nobody's business.

The figure is a TVC Ackbar, with the lower tunic trimmed from Vizam.

R2-WT-E is a support astromech on the starcruiser, Home One. Like most Home One droids, he is minimally decorated, and in this case, to an extreme. "Whitey" rolls around the ship and does maintenance, repairs, and other basic droid stuff.

This is a great figure. I really like the coloration of both the skin and the uniform. The name cracked me up. Do you plan on any other characters inspired by the other "Stellar" franchise?

I'm very excited by this new Yakfinities! I have such a lack of rebel troops compared to the size of my imperial army. To start up the next few months, I have a small squad of rebel shock troopers. I was inspired by battlefront and Cara Dune for these. In fact, you'll see below my idea of what Cara would have looked like as a shock trooper.
