Henchmen is my pick, but kitbashes was my second choice. I absolutely love me a no paint kitbash.
I switched to kitbashes, LOL.

Poll appears to already be closed. I thought it ran through the 28th? I wanted to put in a vote for swoop pilots.

I had set it up to run through 12/28, I'm not sure why it did that, so I apologizefor whatever happened there... I'd extend it, but we did have the poll running for about 2 weeks. We'll definitely put swoop pilots on the next ballot...

@YAK_Chewie ...I logged in on the 28th (before the polls were supposed to close) and voted swoop pilots with my comment. You don't have to extend anything. You could just tally my vote with the rest, since it's clear I was here in time to vote had the polls not been mistakenly closed 12 hours early.

I considered that, but I'm sorry, we are not going to open this back up for a tie breaker at this point. We could also then have someone else say, "Hey, I was going to vote for X or Y" and that would just further complicate things.

I have been running these things since 2006, and this is the first time this has happened in two decades. I'm sorry it occurred and any confusion.

@YAK_Chewie It's not really a matter of someone else being able to say "I was going to vote for x or y". Anyone who did that at this point would be past the deadline. I voiced my vote before the deadline. It's time stamped on this forum. No one else would be able to say that. Had the poll been set up to close at the correct time, we wouldn't even be having this conversation... we'd be having a tiebreaker.

But, hey, henchmen on a technically is fine with me. I am frustrated that my vote won't be counted because of a technical oversight, but even still, I do very much appreciate all you do for this community!

I 100% get what you're saying, but in my mind, it could lead to someone else perhaps coming in and say they would have voted for whatever, but simply didn't post a note.

So, again, I apologize for the situation and I'll try to make sure it never happens again. These are meant to be fun, and not a point of frustration at all. And I'm super frustrated that it happened.

Perhaps a Swoop Pilot Henchman custom could be a fun custom that meets the criteria of Henchmen... which is one of the nice things with most categories; the customizer usually has some creative liberties.

On a different note, at some point, I will retire from managing these and will be happy to pass the mantle if someone wants to own them, sponsor them, etc. They are still fun, but I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel and in some ways look forward to that day.

😉

There's definitely a clear difference between a shoulda-woulda-coulda and an actual timestamped post in the forum saying, "polls were unexpectedly closed early, this is my vote before the deadline", but I think I see what you mean. Someone logs in to vote, sees the polls closed early, shrugs, and simply logs out. How do you consider/deal with that possibility?

And for what it's worth, these challenges are always fun... even when work keeps me from being able to create a worthwhile entry myself. At the very least, I always like to follow the contest and check out the entries. I hope you know that what you do is appreciated very much.

I was just thinking that. It would have ended in a tie, so why not have both swoop pilots and henchmen be winners?
Because if it had ended in a normal tie, we would have had a tie breaker vote like in previous ties... I tried to make clear why I went this route (someone else could have then noted they tried to vote too, and the cycle just repeats itself).

And no matter what, someone is going to have an opinion. I also intended to start the voting earlier, but it has been a terrible month personally, so I slipped on timing and that made it so we would not have time for a tie breaker vote. It's only been needed 1-2 times ever, so I didn't expect it would be a likely possibility this time. I was wrong.

I've also gotten questioned not too long ago when there are 20 ideas submitted, then for the 8 or so selections that went into the voting, questioning why I chose certain selections to be included over others. It's simply not possible to make everyone happy.

I've got way too many real life things that I'm trying to manage lately... this is supposed to be an escape from the stress of all that; not add to it. I used to run 12 of these per year, then 4 per year, now it's down to 3 per year - been cutting back due to the time commitment and the overall strains of life.

Not to mention sponsoring 87 of these over the years... I don't know how many hundreds of new figures I've purchased and mailed as prizes to try and make people feel they are appreciated for participating in the spirit of "By the fans, for the fans."

I've felt more pushback on the process for these in the past 2 years than all the way from 2006-2023 combined, so maybe that's the signal I need. Like I said before, at some point, it may be time to pass the torch, or just retire these altogether. My goal was to conclude them at #100, but I'm honestly not sure I'll make it that long.

@YAK_Chewie Lots of people can claim they woulda, coulda, whatever. Only one vote has timestamped proof that they actually showed up to vote before the deadline. That would be the obvious place to draw the line in regards to who can claim they tried to vote.

But honestly, based on your response to @darthvlad, it seems like none of that is actually the issue anyway, but rather in other external things you have going on in your life. We've all been through seasons of stress and unrest that leave us without the bandwidth to deal with otherwise straightforward issues. As a teacher, I live this weekly. Sure, I still think my vote should count, but clearly you are frying bigger fish than I am right now. Sincerely, Justin, you have my sympathies. I pray things calm down for you soon.

To that end, I'd like to help alleviate your stress inasmuch as I can. I'd like to offer to cover the full cost of the prizes for this Yakfinities challenge. You decide how. Do you want me to get the figs and send them to you? Or just Venmo you the cash to pay for them? Is there another way I could help that would be more useful? We can work out the details through PM.

Yep, we all have things going on in life and stresses to manage. My wife is a teacher too, I see her stress and it can be tough.

The whole Yakfinities process in general has become a bit cumbersome from start to finish. I've been weighing on me for a while.

I also truly appreciate the generous offer but it's completely not necessary and I can't accept it.

Anyways, this Yakfinities has gotten derailed and I apologize. Hopefully those who want to participate can forgive my mistake.

In the true nature of Yakfinities, these should be fun explorations of our imaginations coupled with our creative use of parts & paint. I suggested the ST as a category, and even though it didn't win - that doesn't mean I can't do a Henchman...from the ST! ;) Likewise, each custom is an individual work of art, so categories are open to interpretation and even fan fiction. I'm looking forward to seeing what ideas and creations emerge.

Denizens of Josska the Hutt-Josska the Hutt resides on the remote world of Ganso in the Outer Rim. She has a sprawling manor located outside of Ganso Prime Spaceport. Josska is in control of criminal activities on planet and surrounding systems in the sector. She has an entourage of guards, enforcers and other less than savory individuals 20251228_130200.jpg

Transgalactic Salvage Company- one of Josska's semi-legitimate businesses is Transgalactic Salvage Company. The company owns and operates several salvage yards in the Cavaeras Sector. They also have contracts to scrap and salvage damaged ships. That's not to say the company doesn't do anything illegal. It is rumored that the company makes illegal ship modifications, sell stolen parts, and perform ship-jackings. These are of course all rumors. The company is run by Dav Velkyn20251228_135821.jpg

Wyn and Yahn Aparato - twins, little boys who survived Operation Cinder on their home planet of Vardos, they joined Jinata Security, but left the planet and became mercenaries. They were then hired by the leader of the underworld operation known as the Combine, Zennan Kar’datonio. They are well trained, strong, highly disciplined and extremely loyal. Zennan has little fear when they are around, and they are always around.
